The hotel location near to airport was not a problem, but the traffic noise from the road outside the hotel was extremely loud if you are unfortunate to have a front location room as my wife and I had. I was even threatened with the police and eviction when I tried to obtain a room change to a rear facing one, and a plug for the basin. This never happened and we had two weeks of sleep interrupted nights.
The pool and the breakfast facilities were fine but I have never come across such a rude and unhelpful hotel owner before. We were both extremely tired, but did enjoy the Sporades islands tremendously.

Very disappointed with our hotel in Skiathos. We felt we were treated like second-class citizens once a bus load of Greeks arrived at the hotel. A better breakfast was laid on during their stay plus they got better rooms than us. Our room was right above reception and it was cold and dark, plus there was only one working plug socket in the whole room. Also there was no shower curtain and nothing to hold on to when stepping out of the shower, someone could seriously injure themselves if they slipped on the wet tiled floor. The reception area was Ok but it wasn't inviting at all and most nights there was only us in the bar, served by the barman who wore the same creased-up clothes for the entire week and somehow managed to charge us upwards of €25 for 6 drinks. They could do with a big screen TV and some music in the bar to give it a bit more atmosphere. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk away from Skiathos town but you can ask reception to call you a taxi, they cost between €3 and €5. We had to use taxis to get into town a couple of nights as the weather was quite bad during our stay on Skiathos. I would come to Skiathos again, but I wouldn't stay at this hotel.

We have been to Skiathos 7 times and last year we stayed at the Stellina because we got a great deal from Thomas Cook. We have rebooked for June08 as we were so impressed. The hotel is clean spacious and the pool area is fantastic. The only reservation was the owner who would not help with the bags up 3 flights of stairs The bar also lacks atmosphere so we never used it and went next door to the Oasis and spent our evenings there, great! The location & everything else cannot be faulted. Give it a go!

Our first ever holiday in Greece always going to the likes of spain and that!! The island is fabulous and the Stellina Hotel is in a great location from town and more importantly club strip!! The drinks down there can be quite dear. Not as lively as the likes of Spain, with many different cultures!! The island's bar and night club has the potential to develop into a lively place all year round! Beaches beautiful, check outlast each bus stop 24, easy accesss to buses that cost barely nothing!!! Aug temp was very hot, so lying by the pool at the hotel was great drinking cocktils in the sun!! I will def return to this island in the future and really enjoyed my stay in Stellina Hotel!!

Stopped for the second year running at the Stellina between 20/06/07 and 04/07/07. We have done most Greek islands, and this hotel is one of the best, with hotels in Thassos (Town) and Lesvos (Petra) a close second. The hotel Stellina is always clean and tidy. The staff are fantastic, polite and welcoming. The building work that was underway during our stay did not affect in any way our holiday. It should be completed now. Watching the planes in and out was also enjoyable. Ideal location for town (12-15 minutes away) and access to the main bus route (Bus stop 1) that goes all the way down to Koukanaris. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Potentially going back for a 3rd year running, which has never been known before for us.

When we first arrived we were put in a room very close to building work that was very noisy, we asked the hotel owner if we could move rooms, he was very, very rude, he shouted at us and made me feel quite upset, as you don't go on holiday to be shouted at. Luckily the Thomas Cook rep sorted it out so we could move, she was very helpful, unlike the owner. All the rest of the staff were very nice and friendly, they were embarrassed about how the owner had spoken to us. We were put in a nice room overlooking a nice garden away from building noise. Hotel is good location as only short walk to the town and lovely, clean pool. I did enjoy my stay at the Stellina Hotel and I loved Skiathos, I will definitely be returning to Skiathos. The manager is the only thing that would put me off going to stay at the Stellina again.

Upon arrival we were told that the booking (made and paid for almost a month previously) could not be honoured, and the hotel owner advised us that he did not collaborate with Hotels.com. After a somewhat heated argument he agreed to give us a double room with an extra bed for the first night (we had booked a triple room), and would see what he would do for the remaining 3 nights. I was travelling with my 82 year old mother, who can barely see, because of macular degeneration, and has problems walking, because of osteoarthritis. To say that the hotel owner was totally indifferent would be an understatement. He put us in a tiny room on the third floor. Although there was a lift, there were a number of badly lit staircases to be negotioated before the room could be reached. Since we were returning to Greece after a 3 month stay in the UK we had rather a lot of luggage. The manager offered no assistance. In fact his manner was extremely offhand, bodering on the rude.
When we were allocated a triple room the next day, we were again offered no assistance in making the move from the third floor room to the ground floor room.
Although the remainder of the stay was fine, and all members of the hotel staff were excellent, our stay was marred by our initial arrival at the hotel, and by the attitude of the owner.

The gods were indeed smiling down on me when they led me to the lovely Hotel Stellina. My room was a charming contrast of dark wood and white lace with a balcony overlooking the grounds lush with roses. Next to the pool is a small dining area to enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast. The indoor bar is a very plesant place to listen to Greek music CD's while mingling with other guests. It is located just minutes from the bus stop for the island's beaches and a short, easy stroll into Skiathos Town. The staff greatly enhanced my holiday by making me feel so comfortable and welcome and by offering excellent suggestions for the optimal Skiathos experience. Hotel Stellina has my highest recommendation. And did I mention...the price is right!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Stellina Hotel. The location was ideal, just a five minute walk away from Skiathos Town and a two minute walk to the nearest supermarket and bakers. Our room overlooked the pool and the incoming aircraft which my partner loved as he's a hardcore plane enthusiast! However, apart from the odd jet here and there, overall the airport is quiet and not much trouble at all. The family who ran the hotel were extremely friendly and polite and were always helpful at every turn. I would have no quelms about going back in the future. There is a bus stop 2 minutes walk away which gives you the oportunity to sample the rest of the island.

Top Local Tips for Skiathos

boat trips around the island dont visit this beautiful island without visiting the range of beaches and surrounding islands like skopilos! they are equally as stunning as skiathos and well worth the visit. for a truley spiritual experience visit the old church on top of the large hillside at castro! simply amazing and well worth the climb up.

transport arranging your own rental car is cheaper than going with rep's. Public transport is very good

Aiport You can stand at the end of the runway and watch planes landing and taking off. When planes land they literally come in over your head, some even fly as low as 12 feet above the ground. Be careful when planes are taking off though, the thrust from the engines nearly blew us into the sea!
