Excellant family run hotel

My partner and i have stayed at this hotel twice. it will be our third time this year. It is the first holiday we have returned to, excellant family run, nothing was to much trouble. Clean towels and beds made up daily, if you are looking for a relaxing holiday. This is the place for you. The island itself will appeal more to couples than families with children as not much for them to do. The beaches are lovely, but some can be tricky to get to.weather has always been hot when we have stayed there and that is always a bonus. There is a regular bus service right outside hotel and as it is the second stop for the town and other resorts you are always guaranteed a seat. The only fault we have with the hotel is that the breakfast gets repetative, especially if staying for 2 weeks, and the wasps which are a real problem.

This was my second stay to the Panorama. I gave it 8 of 10 last time, but its had some alterations since, and probably deserves a 9 out of 10 now. The breakfast room has been improved, and is bright, with modern new furniture, and there are also new UPVC doors and shutters between the bedrooms and the balcony where there's now comfortable wicker furniture. It has many good things to commend it, including- There was nearly always water, and it was nearly always hot (which for Skiathos is brilliant) There is a built in hairdryer in the bathroom There is a small Fridge in the bedroom with a small built in freezer Air-Conditioning was included-and needed in July Decent size swimming pool with plenty of sun beds and parasols around it Very clean, and towels, linen etc were changed regularly The bus stops virtually outside. Location is good with a 5 minutes walk to the main beach, or about 15 to Banana beach The Staff are friendly. If I wanted to be “picky”, there are a couple of aspects that could be improved. The large sign outside the Hotel proclaims “English breakfast, Eggs and Bacon “ etc. In the two weeks I was there I never found the bacon at all. On alternate days you either got fried eggs or an omelette. You could have a square slice of processed meat to go with it-but no bacon. I didn’t fancy the boiled eggs without an egg cup either ! Parts of the buffet breakfast- including the plates, cutlery, bread, rolls, cookies, jams, yoghurts, and tinned fruit were not covered up, and were at the mercy of flies, and especially the numerous wasps. Sharing your breakfast with the wasps is a problem which needs looking at, and could presumably be improved by having mesh on the open windows, or installing an Electric UV insect killer. Keeping the fried eggs or omelette hot was another problem, and was largely dependant on your timing. I was previously somewhat critical of the Hotel’s bar, and to a certain extent I still am. I can only assume it’s not high on the Hotels list of priorities. It has all the atmosphere of a dentist’s waiting room. It’s too bright, and was closed at midnight on some days, but open at 2 in the morning on other nights. You never knew if you could get a nightcap or not. If they dimmed the lights, or turned them off putting candles on the tables, and added a little music it would be an improvement. Despite the gripe on the breakfast and the bar, it’s a very well organised and lovely Hotel. I would certainly stay there again. You could do far worse than stay here. Finally, if you suffer from Spheksophobia, however wonderful the Island is, then Skiathos may not be the best place for you ! Personally, I love it.

One of the other reviewers claims this is the best Hotel she has stayed in, and that the Restaurant is the best in Koukounaries. I would have to seriously dispute both these facts. I accept that its subjective, but If you are staying at the Panorama based on this, you are likely to be very disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the Hotel is fine, and I'm going back there again shortly, but don't expect it to be 5*, because it makes no claims to be such. The location is good-the bus stops, outside, it has a nice pool, is clean, and the self service breakfast is fine-although timing is critical to get the food hot (but remember this is Greece after all) I have also seen it claimed that there is a sea view from here. Lake view certainly, but I'm not so sure about a sea view. The Restaurant is average compared to other Restaurants in the resort. The bar is a bit disappointing, with no atmosphere at all-but there are plenty of other bars in the resort-so don't let this put you off. Added to the fact that its about a 5 minute stroll to the main beach, or about a 15 minutes stroll to Banana Beach,(rather uneven terrain, and uphill in parts) its an ideal place to stay. The Island of Skiathos is beautiful, and (unless you are looking for an Ibiza/Benidorm type resort) you can’t fail to enjoy it.

The best hotel I have ever been. Location fantastic. Very very clean. The stuff was sooo helpful and friendly. Especially Apollo. A gorgeous guy and very smart. Anything you need go to Apollo. The restaurant it was the best in Koukounaries but very very busy. Lovely food and nice atmosphere. Breakfast it was nice but the only thing I needed it was a big smile from the stuff especially Ntina. Koukounaries beach is very nice and clean close to the hotel. Everyday it was sunshine so our mood it was terrific. I never felt like this in UK. I recommend you to go there and I wish you to have as great time as I had there.

mousaka the greek food is fantastic, you have to try their mousaka.... best ever

The Bus Route As there is one road and the bus runs along it from the town of Skiathos to Koukounaries it is an excellent way to see the Island from on end to the other.. 1.50 euros

bus service enjoy and be open minded, its cramped on the bus but good fun and all part of the skiathos experience!
