I visited the hotel on two occassions. Being a single lady traveller, I needed easy access to nightlife entertainment, towns for shopping, public transport, beaches and at the same time peace and quiet. The hotel staff are very friendly, the owner is very helpful and will go out of his way to make you feel at home. The rooms are comfortable and you can relax at the poolside to your heart's content. A quick stroll at night takes you to the hub of the nightlife (I recommend (Koo club)where you can party the night away often meeting up with other single travellers. Be assured, you will not be left to your own devices - Hotel Melina will let you see Santorini like no other - you won't want to leave.....

Top Local Tips for Santorini

buses,transportation Most of the ferries arrive at the new Port and you have to get transport to your hotel from there which can be expensive. We paid 20 euro (which was organised by the hotel) and found out later we could have got public transport for 2.40 euro for both of us and our bags. The buses are waiting there at the ferry terminal. The only downside was that you have to walk to your hotel from the bus station but if you know the location of the hotel from a map, this is not a problem. On the way back we did that and it saved us 20 euros. The buses leave from the top of the town in time to connect to the ferries, although trying to get information at that bus station is a real challenge. There are also some lovely bus rides you can take to different places on the island rather than get a tour. e.g. Akrotira and Oia

Tons of sun I went in the summer and the sun was beating everyday, so I would suggest bringing a ton of sunscreen and make sure to stay hydrated.
