Island hoppers arriving without pre-booked accommodation Be aware that if you arrive in Santorini by ferry and do not have a place to stay already booked, you may be duped into accepting a room in a hotel which is out of the way of the resorts. On arrival, you have to get transport up the very steep hill, to get anywhere on the island, so without a pre-arranged pickup you may end up at one of the accommodation offices on the port side. (like we did). We accepted a room in a hotel which was supposed to be in Perissa but in fact was a 30 - 45 min walk down a badly lit road to the beachfront and restaurants.

restaurants in kamari dont forget you will have to pay by the pound for seafood that you see in those freezer box things at the fronts of seafood restaurants - this can be unexpectedly expensive if you are drunk or stupid. - i'm wont say which one was me. if you go to akrotiri (only one shop)! try marias cafe - we had some red wine, stuffed vine leaves and tomato balls with some fava bean dip and crusty bread. fantastic. the best place i found in kamari though was the sellada taverna . home cooked food!!!!!. as for the sea front restaurants the setting was so good at night i would probably have really enjoyed eating a church candle..............enjoy.

Kamari/Perissa There's more life in Kamari than Perissa.
