Excellent (staff facilities pools and food !!!!)

This hotel is the best hotel I have been to yet. It was exelent food and exelent staff. the pools were amazing. kids klub was fab ( run by mel of course) and the junior club ( run by katie ).There was entertainment at night and bingo. If you win you can win a t-shirt. The t-shirts are cool. they are animation greece tops and there are cd's to. After that there was even more entertainment. It was so cool it was quite hot there. There was a mini glof course.

Well I was 14 when I went to the Olympic Palace and of course every 14 year old must of been excited to go on there holiday to get away, well anyway we arrived there at "night" and there was a really nice young boy there called Bill and he would take your suit cases up to your room but unfortunately the manager had gave us the wrong room from what we asked for. It was too late to do anything so we had to sleep in this room until the morning when my dad and my mum would go and get the right room and it took them ages because Bill took them around so many apartments and we finally got one! And it was a really nice view of the sea. Well Apart from that this hotel was really nice the staff were very nice such as Joe, Aris & Bill. The Food was nice as we had Bed & Breakfast! (I think that's what it's called) or Half Board I Don't know.. Well the pool was really nice and there were 2 and it was very easy to get around always sun beds not matter what time you went down there. Ixia.. Ixia is a very nice place is Rhodes and I really liked it there. There were these really nice men Called Manwell & Mark Who was very friendly people and owned the Velious Bar and Manwell used 2 get you into his bar all the time! He was so nice and I cried when I left him= (All the restaurants along the "road" was all very nice and yet again friendly people! Well that's my view on the Olympic Palace & Ixia=D

As you arrive at reception, you just think WOW! I'm really staying here. Looking like a cruise ship, this hotel is located in Ixia, 6 euros in a taxi from Rhodes town. Everything about this hotel is great, the staff are very friendly, the rooms high quality and very clean, (we had a room with a view), in fqact the only downside to the hotel was the food offered in the restaraunt, most nights a buffet, but every night the food was more or less the same with little quality to it. We were half board and ended up spending half our stay eating out.

just returned from a 2 week holiday in the olympic palace hotel in ixia.
my family holiday consisted of myself,husband and 13 year old son .
wefound the hotel to be located in a great position next to local shops,bars and restaurants.
the hotel is very well established and has a great reputation in the area for its cleanliness,ie clean bed linen and towels changed every day .
i would stress to anyone considering a stay in this hotel to pay the suppliment for a sea view as othrwise you will look onto a cliff face with no natural sunlight .i heard a lot of people complaining about their rooms who did not pay the suppliment .
the room we stayed in was on the 5th floor and was quite spacious but quite dated and was in need of a facelift .
the hotel food was buffet style and was quite varied in choice .
the pool area was very nice and spotlessly clean with plenty of free sunbeds .
the hotel bar and 8th floor bar has been recently refurbished and are very bright and modern .
incidently rooms on the 8th floor were busy being modernised so if you can request a room on this floor do so as they looked fab .
as a word of warning regarding the resort it is on a very busy road and great care will be needed if travelling with young children.

we stayed here for the first wk in June 2006 and i cannot complain about anything the service and friendliness of staff was superb and there was a wide range of excellent food available for both breakfast and dinner done in a buffet style as well as a snack bar which was open throughout the day for lunch etc. the rooms were clean and really all you needed however i would strongly advise paying the extra for a sea view room as the back rooms look on to the back of a mountain and are very dark.
overall a very good hotel for all types singles and families and i am booking to go back nxt yr. i have included a few photos of hotel

had a week at the olympic palace hotel in june 2006. The hotel it's self is clean, with good cleaners who come every day. We booked a seaview room which is the only way to stay at this hotel as the rooms on the other side of the hotel are looking at a cliff face, this is important to remember if you are wanting to visit as this will deffinatley make or break your holiday. The location of the hotel is towards the end of " the strip " in ixia. In our view a car rental is a must, as there is not that much to do in ixia, there are quite a few resturants and bars, but the beach ( which is a 2 min walk across, which has to be said is a very busy road ) is shingle and not ideal for sunbathing, but very good for water sports as there is a constant breeze from the sea. The pool complex is very good with plenty of loungers and a bar and snack bar which is also very clean and reasonably priced. I would say that ixia it's self is aimed at families and couples with younger groups heading for faliraki, so is reasonably quiet at night but there are bars that stay open late and are reasonably lively. The location of ixia is great to explore the island with the beautiful rhodes town 10 min drive away. This was my first expidition to a greek island and have to say all the people were very nice and polite, hotel staff were great. Wouldn't go back to rhodes for a few years as after a week you pretty much exhaust the island without going over things you have done again.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a week in the last week of May this year. We had a 'seaview room' on the sixth floor (a very important request or you will likely wind up in a small room looking at a cliff face & without a breeze). Weather was unusually hot & humid (mid 30's) for the first three days. Our travel company's (Nolitours, Canada) custom itinery specified an air conditioned room. It was - but not until June 15th! Opening the balcony door during the night to provide some relief was a bad idea (no screens, no bug netting over the bed). Result: over one hundred mosquitoes and one giant very fast cochroach in the room in the morning. Three miserable nights. An electronic mosquito repellant device supplied by the hotel proved ineffective (where are they going to be repelled to in a one room layout?). No resoultion with the hotel or Nolitours Travel (not 'fully checked out'). We considered another hotel but the weather moderated. Otherwise, clean, reasonable size room, great staff, good food, nice layout and facilities, great view and good location.

Good value for a hotel with nice facilities

I was amazed to find the hotel virtually fully booked in the second half of October, only a fortnight before it was to close for the winter. The weather was sunny but windy. The reception area is a bit bare and, in general, the public rooms are not opulent, though OK for a beach hotel. It is worth paying extra for a seaview, better still to book a top-floor business room, which comes with extra facilities. The buffets at breakfast and dinner were, again, OK rather than impressive but the staff were helpful and would bring local specialities to your table without being asked. General facilities are good and the grounds spacious. A decent hotel, perhaps more 4 than 5 star and good value.

Booked a last minute holiday to Rhodes for the last week of the season at the end of October. The hotel was excellent with us having a room with pool and sea view. Our room was clean and a reasonable size and had a large balcony as we were situated on the 4th floor. The weather was also very good although the bars and shops closed early as there was only a limited number of holidaymakers about at the end of October.
The staff throughout the hotel were very helpful and were always keen to please. The food was top class, as good as we have ever had on a holiday. One point a would make is that it would be advisable to pay the extra for sea view as the rooms facing inland can be quite dark and depressing.
We really enjoyed our week in the sun at the Olympic Palace Hotel.

I have just returned from two weeks in the Olympic Palace and can highly recommend it as a place to stay and relax in. We were a party of 4 adults.

We had front rooms on the fifth floor with large balconies and lovely views over to Turkey. Being October we did not have the sun directly shining on our balconies but rooms further round would have had the afternoon and evening sun. I can understand people not liking the back facing rooms.... that is why we chose the sea view rooms. I think it is unfair to criticise the hotel though for these rooms when you can choose to to pay extra for the sea view.

The rooms were spacious and were cleaned every day with the bed linen and towels changed daily. Our shower curtain was even taken away one day and cleaned! The beds are not over big and some might find them a bit hard but I believe that is the case in most Greek hotels.

The restaurant serves a buffet breakfast of hot and cold food with plenty choice. In the evening the meals are also buffet although three times a week there is a choice of two set main courses. If this does not suit the buffet starters could easily act as main courses. There was soup every day and a choice of at least seven sweets with ice cream to follow. The choice was so large that even in two weeks we did not find it repetitive. One of our party required glutton free meals and when the head waiter discovered this he went out of his way to ensure that she got the right food every evening. He prepared special soup for her and brought her main course to the table every night. This was excellent service that we have rarely encountered elsewhere.

We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful especially in the restaurant.

There were always plent of free sunbeds to go round and the poolside was well off the busy road and sheltered. There was a snack bar beside the pools which served a good variety of food and drink.

You could get a beach towel from the hotel shop for a deposit of 10 euros. The towel could be exchanged regularly for a clean one and you get your 10 euros back when you leave

The entertainment was varied and enjoyable.... gave the disco a miss though!

There is a car hire firm in the hotel lobby which gave very good service ... 30 euros per day for any standard car delivered to the door.

The town is a 6 euro taxi ride of about 10 minutes but it is possible to walk into Rhodes in under an hour.

If you are planning any trips I would advise you to book independently and not through the tour rep. We found we could get identical trips from Sigma travel just along the road much cheaper. The rep offerred a trip to Symi for 37 euros. We paid 17 at Sigma. Booking at the harbour directly probably saves a few more euros

All in all the Olympic Palace had everything we were looking for and I would have no hestitation in recommending it as an excellent hotel and base from which to explore Rhodes.

Holiday from hell!!

We have just recently come home from our holiday in Rhodes and were due to stay at the olympic palace in Ixia. When we arrived we were stuck in the back of the hotel in a dark awful room which i can only descibe as a cave, the room we were given was not like the pictures on the internet which showed a lovely standard room. We had requested a sea view room but were told on arrival that we should have paid for this ....... something that was NOT STATED when we booked this holiday!!!!! if we had been told we would have paid. The hotle staff were VERY unfriendly and VERY unhelpful when we asked to be moved, the only room that was availble to us was another cave like room at the back of the hotel facing a cliff.....not something we wanted to accept. Like many people we had saved up all year for our 2 weeks of relaxation and all we got was nearly 5 hours of stress!!!!!. In the end we asked to move hotels as the thought of spending 2 weeks in this awful hotel was to much to bear. Before we left our rep offered for us to eat in the hotel while they tried to get us moved........ not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel, not alot on offer and not our cup of tea at all. My advice to anyone thinking of booking their holiday at the Olympic Palace in Ixia is DON`T BOTHER. To let anyone know whos interested we were moved hotels and went to Koskinou, Paradise Royal Mare.....this hotel was perfect, no complaints at all, so what started off to be the holiday from hell turned out to be a wonderful relaxing holiday. Just a quick thanx to our Thomas Cook rep Kelly who sorted out getting us moved from that hell hole.

I went with my wife for a few days break and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent (we were half board). It is situated close to pubs and shops, the bus to Rhodes town centre is right outside the hotel. No complaints about anything, especially as after I booked the holiday I read reviews on this site and was a bit panicky.

Superb Service

We stayed in the Olympic Palace for two weeks from 24/8/05. Our initial room on the 6th floor was a bit disappointing, but on raising this at reception we were immediately moved to the 8th floor and had an excellent room with a superb view. This helpful attitude was typical of all that we experienced at the hotel right from front of house staff through to room cleaning staff. The restaurant staff in particular were exceptionally helpful. Food was good with good variety throughout our stay. Only disappointment was lack of range of fresh fruit in the morning, again once this was mentioned a plate of fresh fruit was brought to our table each morning. Bed linen was changed each day. Lack of any real organisation around arranged activities was a bit disappointing. While we will probably not be back in Rhodes again immediately we would have no hesitation is using this hotel on a future visit

Top Local Tips for Rhodes

Weather having been in both September and June we would return in September. The insects were biting in June which made the evening unpleasant.

Get around... Olympic Palace Hotel is an excellent accommodation, but since Rhodes is one of the most beautiful islands of Greece, don't spend all of your holidays inside the hotel. Rent a car and visit "7 springs", "the valley of butterflies", LIndos and its deach, also the beach of Ag. Agathi and Afantou, Prasonisi, go to Stegna and eat at Mr. Saris taverna " pasta marinara", go to Kolumpia and eat at "Limanaki" (amazing view down the golf), visit the CASINO but don't overdo it, and of course take a walk in the old town inside the castle...!

Be cool while other resorts roast in the heat! Take rubber shoes for the beach, additional umberella is useful but hard to secure into the pebbles. Be prepared to share your taxi with strangers if you're a small party. No discount! Visit Phillips Bar, he's really great. Le Gourmet is a good restaurant for a special occasion. Take time to visit the Old Town - a must, and it's very big. Don't do the trip to Lindos unless you're very fit or like riding on donkeys.
