We have just returned from a weeks holiday in Rhodes, staying at the Asteria Beach Hotel in Theologos, and, contrary to the review posted previously we cannot speak highly enough of the hotel.
The hotel is small, only 36 rooms, and owned and most efficiently run by a Greek family.
We travelled with Global Late Deals-UK and were half board; most other guests were all inclusive and seemed happy with the service-plentiful drinks, snacks, ice cream etc.
We were the only English people in the hotel, all other residents being from the Czech Republic, they were most respectable and well mannered and happy to converse with us as best we could.
The staff in the hotel were friendly and approachable, always happy to help.
The room was basic but with a balcony with sea view, plugs in all the right places-for ladies close to mirrors! The room was cleaned every day and fresh towels and bed linen every other day.
Excellent plumbing facilities, always lots of hot water.
As we came out of our room we stepped onto the pool terrace, a large very clean pool, and well maintained terrace with plentiful loungers-free to use, showers, and 2 toilets.
The bar and dining room are also poolside so you can eat either inside or outside.
The food was of a very good standard, continental breakfast, cold meats, cheese, fruit, eggs, all chilled and covered.
Dinner at night was excellent with a good choice of very typically Greek food.
Drinks at the bar were very reasonably priced.
After dinner we walked into the town which is small and quite quiet though has plentiful supermarkets, bars and eating places.
The atmosphere was so friendly and very relaxed, no pressure on you to go in bars, but, if you did you were made to feel most welcome.
We found one excellent taverna-Mikes Bar-most highly recommended-excellent food a d drinks at a reasonable price, and the owner is such a lovely man!!
The beach is clean with bars and sun loungers available, a pebble beach so swimming shoes are essential.
Although temperatures were between 38-44 degrees there is always a pleasant breeze along this West Coast.
Transfer from the airport takes 10 minutes and costs 10 euros.
The local bus takes you to Rhodes Town-40 mins for 2 euros-the old town is beautiful and there are boats in the Harbour to take you to Turkey or Symi Island.
We had a fantastic holiday and are planning to return as soon as we can, The Asteria Beach is a perfect location for those looking for a quiet relaxing holiday with plenty things to do if you want to, and yet the option to have a quiet time.
Top marks for Tholos and The Asteria Beach Hotel!!!!!!
