Limited attractions - get a car In Halkidiki you really need to hire a car to see the best of the three penninsulas. Hire car locally, as the tour reps are very expensive and you can get better deals. Expect to spend at least 1 hour in the car to reach any tourist areas of interest other than beaches. Sithonia makes a fabulous day out in the car and the resorts on the far side facing Mount Athos are really worth seeing - its Halikidiki scenery at its best. Roads are good and if you negotiate Thessaloniki's ring road (its ok honestly) you can drive down to Athens in about 8 hours from Polychrono. This is a toll road - 2 Euro's are charged so make sure you have apare change.

We were only there for 1 week (wished it had been longer) so we just enjoyed the peace, sun, the occasional walk & the good company of Amy, Michael, Alex, Corrina, Katie and the other guests.
