I've just returned from Hotel Appartments Alexander from Paralia Katerini - one day earlier, by the way.
The "hotel" made a poor impression over me, mostly because of Mr. Alexander, the owner. We had a fight with him in the fisrt hour we arrived - he did not allow 2 of our friends who staied at a different villa to come to our room to eat something. In the next half an hour, the door from one of my friend's room broke and Mr. Alexander came and started to shout at him and tell him that he will have to sleap without a door at his room and he was "nice" enough to allow him to stay in our room until he fixed the door. He charged my friend with 30 Euro for the door. The "funny" thing is that the next day we noticed that the door from our room was repaired in exactly the same place the door of our friend broke off - so it was obviously the poor quality of his furniture to blame, and not our friend.
The hotel looks exactly as in the pictures from 2004 that you can find anywhere on the Internet. I can say the rooms were clean, but the furniture was shabby, the air conditioning (for which we paied an extra 5 euros/day) was positioned in such a way that it blew right over the beds, so that you cannot keep it open too much, we had 3 channels on the tv and the electricity in the room worked only if the key handle was pluged in -another funny thing because the door of the villa staied closed during the day and I managed to remain outside for half an hour because I went to the shop and I left the key in the room ( my bf was in the room and was using electricity).
We left one day earlier because they wanted us to leave the room at 8.00 am and it would have been too tiring. And still, Mr. Alexander's wife commented on the fact that the balcony was not clean and that there was sand on the rooms floors.
All in all - this was THE WORST vacation ever! Don't spend your money on Paralia Katerini (even if it seams cheap, it is in fact much more expensive than it really worths). If you want to visit Greece and enjoy it, go to the isles, even if you stay 2, 3 days less.
