Top Local Tips for Olympia
Spring time travel Travel out of season when the weather is warm rather than hot. There are less people and in the spring the flowers are wonderful.
Dinner Any guide book will tell you that the restaurants in Olympia cater exclusively to tourists--don't waste your euros there! Less than ten minutes away on the large, well-lit and signed roadway is the tiny town of Miraka with a couple of great tavernas right as you enter. Pleasant, charming and authentic.
Ancient Olympia Get there before the hundreds of tour buses do! (arrive right at opening time)

There is a lovely outdoor sitting area and the dining room offers a very complete buffet breakfast in a lovely setting.
The delightful owner, Suzanna Spiliopolou Blake-Lane, is extremely gracious and can help with any problem. Her Greek is a pleasure to listen to as she speaks with the accent of her native land--Australia.
Guests also have access to the lovely pool at the Europa Hotel.
The Hotel Pelops offers an elegant, but homey, atmosphere at a very reasonable price. It has become a favourite stop!
