Greek Mythology The vicinity seems to be the centre of the old greek mythological world. At mount Pilios (visible from the hotel) there were the centaurs. Achilles had his training here, the boat Argos with its 50 argonauts left from here for the search for the Guild Fleece, the Delphi Oracle was just a stone's throw away etc. Volos itself is a bit dusty, dirty like most other towns of this size and above in Greece, but does have something exclusive about it. Nice Port with contemoprary bars that offer nice refreshments at fair prices to deal with the hot summer temps here (during our stay no less then 37°C). Some small shopping malls scaterred around the town, not really worth while for tourists. For swimming, the bay was sometimes poluted by plastic bags etc, possibly thrown away from the ferries? Considder a trip to mount Pilios with beautyfull natural water sources and amazing views everywhere, but prepare for a trip that seems to have no end!
