September Travel and rough seas We loved the fact that the majority of the tourist season was over, but we did run into some ferry connection problems due to weather. Tickets for the ferry were purchased right at the port! The Blue Star Ferry is highly recommended if there is any typle of rough seas at all. We were able to get across to Naxos in some incredibly rough seas, and felt very safe on the huge ferry from Blue Star. If you are at all prone to seasickness do not attempt the crossings from Pireaus via any other type ferry or high speed approach! It is a 4 hour trip, and you can save about an hour with some of the high speed options, but again it is not suggested unless it is a realativly calm day!
