Best meals in Agios Prokopios After a week, the 2 best places we dined at were Sunset Restaurant and the Italian restaurant - which I can't remember the name of - although there is only one italian pizzeria on the Prokopios strip.

Axiotissa - the best place to eat in Naxos The tavern/restaurant is located on the road to the excellent beach of Pirgaki, and is only accessible by car. Despite its remote location, it fills up every night, so booking in advance is essential, especially if one arrives after 7-7.30 pm. The atmosphere and the view are great, as are the staff and the food. We dined here three times in the course of a week, and we tried everything from goat and pork to grilled sardines and falaffel. We enjoyed the laid-back, yet non-touristy atmosphere (helped by great music -jazz, classical, quality Greek folk music), a welcome change from the more tacky places at the beachfront in the capital. In fact, dining in the capital should be avoided all together.
