Top Local Tips for Mykonos

Greek beaches are different (Before reading on, note that I’m not a really big beach guy, since I live in the Middle East, which is kind of like one great big huge beach. You get beach-spoiled living here, so I don’t usually want to base holidays on beaches.) Just a word of warning to non-Europeans: Greek beaches are different from what we normally see in North America, the middle east, or Thailand (the only beach places I’ve been to). Every Greek beach I’ve seen is relatively small (i.e. much less than a mile long), and very densely packed with fixed rental chaise lounges, which are rented out at very high prices. Last week in Mykonos, even though it was getting too chilly to bask, and only about 1/10 of the chairs were rented, they were still demanding 12 Euros to sit on a chaise. Now you do not have to pay for the chaise, you can pitch a towel or a blanket for free, but the beach will still probably be more crowded than what you are used to. Also check out the beach make-up before making a final decision. Many beaches are pebble or rock (e.g. Santorini, some on Mykonos, the Cote d’Azur in France), and after being raised on sand, you may not find a pebbly or rocky beach to be as to your liking.

Buses No need hiring cars - the public transport is excellent

weather Its better to go in September - not so crowded with tourists and not so windy. There are taverans in the resort with entertainment, We were very satisfied with Nikos which didnt have entertainment.
