I spent 3 weeks at hotel Zaira in august and 5 weeks last year. The location is beautiful and so peaceful! The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and there is always someone around to help you in whatever you need. After a few days, you forget you are in a hotel and you start feeling like home. The rooms are all freshly renovated and it's obvious that the owner is always looking for new ways to improve the hotel and the services provided. The buffet breakfast is very good and it's something you don't find in most of the hotels in Greece. Ingredients are fresh and carefully selected. The beach in front of the hotel is excellent for water sports and also quite good for swimming. There is also a wifi internet connection. All in all, I warmly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking a restful, peaceful and lovely holiday in a friendly and tasteful environment.

Hotel Zaira is one of the best places I've ever been to in Greece, it provides everything I was looking for, quite and peaceful environment, great service, watersports, near to trekking paths, excellent food, long evenings with good company in the beautifully decorated terrace... I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Mytilene. Don't miss it!!

Hotel Zaira is a wonderful place. I stayed there for more than a month and a half and it soon became a second home to me. The rooms are cute and charming, the hotel is beautiful and faces the water (although there are nicer beaches nearby for swimming, the one right in front is just perfect for doing some sunbathing). The staff is very friendly and helpful, never hesitant to give me information, rectify a complaint I had, or give me lift to the pharmacy when I was sick. The prices are great for long stays and short sojourns. Because it is so beautiful, the hotel hosts a variety of events which the guests are always invited to in order to experience (and even join in) the total Greek experience. At these events, you are invited to eat (for free!) the amazing food this great hotel offers, with the freshest ingredients from nearby farms (the owner of the hotel's brother supplies all the ingredients from his organic farm). You can't go wrong with this hotel!

Don't go there!

Don't be mislead by the beauty of the place! The place is a nightmare. Rooms are dark, with poor lighting, and dirty. The furniture is tatty and the wardrobes stink of mould. Everything breaks as you touch it. The bedsheets are stained and with large holes. The electric showers look pretty unsafe. The management doesn't care about the place and none is around to receive complaints. During the summer they host weddings and the music goes on until 4 am, thus making it impossible to sleep. Food is awful (yes...it can be awful even in Greece!) and it is carefully selected so as to provide only the cheapest possible range of products (would you ever guess that you'd be given canned fruit in Greece in the middle of the summer?). Price is 35 euros for a single - this is the average price you'd pay for a nice clean studio in a similar location, ie away from everything. You need a car as the beach by the hotel is dirty and it's not pleasant to swim there.
