Excellent hotel

We understand there were problems some three/four years ago over ownership of the land, but this is all behind them now. Sally has been twice before in 2003 and 2005 and loves the whole concept. Owner Lakis is most helpful, the rooms are clean and breakfast food is sufficient. Outside, the pool is clean and there are sufficient sunbeds available. Good for a quiet holiday. Unfortunately no tour operator from England goes there any longer but it is so easy to book direct by E-Mail and arrange own flight to Preveza - but watch expensive taxi fare - we came back by bus, a seventh of the taxi cost.

WE stayed at the Osca Hotel in September 2008 for our sons wedding. It was great,we had a great room.The staff were fantastic,allways very helpful and cheerful. I hope to book again for the SEPTEMBER.

Good basic rooms

This hotel is showing its age, but never the less it's in a great position with very nice views of the bay. The rooms are clean and everything works. Beds are comfy and the pool is great as it's quiet with plenty of sun loungers and shade.

Two week stay in June this year, great room, excellent service, friendly staff, wonderful view, a very relaxing time there and reluctant to come back to the rat race. Would highly recommend this hotel. You really do not need to use tour operators.

Great Holiday

I stayed here for 2 weeks on budget Olympic Holiday. It was a great base for exploring the island. The accomodation was basic, but comfortable, which was what I expect in Greece, I think it is part of the charm of Greece. The breakfast was the usual continental type breakdfast, with a fair selection (OK, no full English but I would not expect that). Plenty of good local tavernas for dinner. I rented a mountain bike and covered most of the island, also good to take ferry to neighbouring island and boat excursion to Paxos and Antipaxos.

I stayed at Oscar hotel Nidri in August this year with my wife & we had a super time. The hotel and staff were first class, and nothing was too much trouble. Our tour operator was Olympic and Vic our rep was great, many thanks to you all for a great time we shall return next year.

I have just stayed at the Oscar hotel but was a bit wary when I looked at one review about this hotel on this site. Thank God I did not listen to the person who put it on because I have had a great time. The breakfast was outstanding for a small hotel with a lot of choice not just the rolls and ham that he said it was and yes the sunbeds have been removed from around the pool but we sat on the ones across the road and had a good tan to show for it. What is the problem to walk 5 mts across the road even if there is traffic, I am an adult and I can cross the road with out someone holding my hand. It was great to sit there and watch the boats going up and down and the scenery changed every day, what more can you ask for. The hotel staff were great with me, a smile in the morning from ME got a great response form them. My AC worked great and you do not need a degree to press a button to turn it on.... Do some people only go on holiday to complain.... Thank you to Olympic and Oscar for giving me a great holiday.

I am still in Nidri as I write this review. We booked Oscar Hotel based on reviews and photographs. What a disappointment! Due to what someone has found out there is a land dispute between the owners and somebody and as a result there are no sun beds. As a result no-one bothers with the pool so the owners have kept the rope on preventing access. Only the owners children and friends play in it!Therefore, there is no poolbar to chill and relax. The sandy beach yards away is a myth. It is a grassed area overlooking the sea and pools of oil from moored berths. You have to walk across a fairly busy small road used by camper vans and mad Italian drivers to reach it and for what? You have to walk to the other end of the beach approx 500 yards or more to find a decent patch. The 'friendly staff' so referred previously are NOT! They scowl at you when you come down for the boring breakfast of ham, tomatoes and rolls.Absolutely no variety! But the million or so wasps that hover around the tables seem to like it! A grunted kalimera from the staff is occasionally uttered. My wife asked for an extra pillow as the one she had was virtually flat. She got an extra pillow but they did not seem to be happy about it. The air conditioning is very poor and despite two requests for help how to make the ac work I eventually figured it out for myself. No-one came to help. The owner constantly verbally abuses his wife and other staff members reminiscent of Basil Fawlty and is very aloof when you walk into the bar area at the end of a night and request a jug of his 'celebrated' house wine. 'Only with a meal he says!!! Next door is the excellent Athos Hotel who is taking all the custom from Oscar and I bet he is rubbing his hands. One mans failings are another mans success. The Olympic brochure has a lot to answer for by printing misleading photos that makes the misled reader (like me) think of pleasant days spent poolside on sunbeds and being yards from a 'sandy' beach. This illusion is far from the truth. Apart from this shocking hotel, everything else is fine!!! If you're booked in during the next fews or so, change your accommodation!

I returned from a beautiful trip to Nidri a few days ago and can't praise Hotel Oscar enough! I stayed with my boyfriend for 2 weeks and it was fantastic! The staff are very friendly, the restaurant food was very modestly priced and some of the best we tried in Lefkas, the rooms were spacious and clean and the pool was a decent size, the deep end being over 2 metres. We found plenty to do whilst in Lefkas however it was easy to escape for some peace and quiet. It is ideal for couples and families. Some of the best things we did in Nidri was a trip on the greek warship replica 'Odessyia', hiring a motor boat for the day and visiting the beautiful waterfall in the mountains.
