I went to stay at the Varkas hotel after I had finished my A levels last year!... it was my first girl’s holiday and I couldn’t have wished for a better one!.. This hotel is simplistic but you don’t really need allot anyway!.. I found that this hotel was good for meeting loads of other young people and with Seva close by it wasn’t a problem at all that there was no pool!.. I would definitely recommend this hotel for any 1st time group holidays looking for sun and fun!..

I loved it at Hotel Varkas, it was exactly how I hoped it would be. We got 4 rooms and they were very clean and the maid came every day. The staff were also fantastic and very friendly. The rooms where very spacious and we had no problems what so ever. Also the fact that Seva was right next door and we could use their pool facilities was great! I would definitely recommend Varkas and will hopefully be going back again next year :)

Well, I went to Kardemena with 5 of my friends and I absolutely loved Varkas! Had the best time of my life there!..The rooms were excellent and clean, also the cleaners came daily. It's in the centre of all the nightlife, and made lots of friends there, everybody is friendly. There is a supermarket nearby for all the food you want and need. The price was awesome for what it is! It’s great!..The rooms are very spacious too. There is no downfall to this hotel!..Defo goin back next year..Bring on Kos 09 :D

Having read the reviews about these apartments many of my friends and I were dreading what we would find however we were pleasantly surprised. We had 3 rooms and the accommodation was clean (most important) with nice balconies and fairly spacious rooms. They were basic but comfortable and I don't think there was anything much to complain about, although we did have a slight problem with our toilet that wouldn't flush - the reps/cleaners sorted this out though. I was quite shocked when I first saw the shower with no curtain and no holder for the showerhead but with practice it was fine...just be careful as the water does go everywhere making the floor pretty slippy. The cleaners came every couple of days and did a thorough job - not the best but sheets/towels were changed and floors cleaned. I would advise people to bring their own towels as they looked quite old. There were limited kitchen facilities but we only made sandwiches/pot noodles anyway and the food was fairly cheap. There is a fridge, hob and kettle, some cutlery (although not a lot) and some plates/bowls etc. Adequate for what we needed. During our week stay we had 1 cockroach in our apartment that we caught in a glass and it was still alive when we left. There was also 1 out on the balcony that died but the apartments definitely aren’t infested and to be honest you’re abroad so what do you expect – there’s cockroaches wherever you go, it’s just down to luck really. I was really worried that the apartments wouldn’t be safe after reading the review that people’s rooms had been broken into but there were locks on both the shutters and windows so this wasn’t an issue – we definitely didn’t feel that this was a risk. We didn’t use the safety deposit boxes but there were some available in the reception area at Varkas and at the Seva (€20/30). Our reps suggested we use these ones as Varkas reception isn’t always staffed. The pool at the Seva is a very short walk (literally a minute) down the road so that wasn't a problem. The Varkas apartments were in the centre of everything – a 2 minute walk to a supermarket (I would advise Louis) which was just across the road from the main bar area, as well as being just around the corner from Status nightclub and about a 5 minute walk to Starlight’s. Munchies 24/7 (opposite Louis supermarket) did the best pizza ever…at least it tasted really good after a night out! Everyone at the Seva and Varkas were young and out to have fun like us which was great. The twenty’s reps were all really friendly. We had an amazing time in Kardamena and really didn’t want to come home. Based on my experience, there is no need for anyone to worry about staying in the Varkas Apartments.

This hotel was ok accept the towels and sheets were really dirty and we only had two large towels between three of us, so bring your own. Also two people staying in the hotel had there rooms broken into and stuff knicked, as there are no reception staff. One girl had the door smashed down and the hotel tried to charge her 100euros for the damage!! We also didnt have a kettle and the bathroom was small. But generally ok, cleaned often and we had no experience of pests.

I read all the other reports two days before I went on this holiday and to be honest I was dreading seeing the apartments! But I was really surprised when I got there and would recommend Varkas. there were a few problems like the cooking facilities, you got a hob and a kettle and a few knives and forks but I wouldn’t advise you to use them they were quite gross. Some of the showers flooded but mine didn’t so I can’t complain there, my room didn’t have a mirror, but I jus went in others rooms to use one. There was only one sighting of a cockroach and it was dead and on the bottom floor. The rooms were very basic but all you would need for the holiday really is a bed and shower, as food is so cheap. There's a really nice pool a minutes walk from Varkas only thing is don’t try and get in the outdoor one in the night cos the owners go mad literally. Basically don’t listen to all these people saying it’s infested with ants and cockroaches cos its not and the maids do come round everyday apart from Sunday. And you get a safe by the pool so none of our stuff got stolen and Kardemena is awesome! (-:

Considering the reviews that I read before I stayed in Varkas I was expecting the worst, but it really wasn't too bad. The location is excellent - right in the centre of the action. The rooms were very basic but clean and had nice balconies. It was also full of people like us (rowdy young people) so we never got told to keep the noise down or anything like that (I wouldn't advise staying in Varkas if you're after a quiet, relaxing break). There were only 2 major problems with the rooms: the very limited cooking facilities and the shower, which you had to hold and flooded the bathroom when you used it. The Varkas block is about a minutes walk from Seva, which has a nice outdoor pool with sun loungers and a 24 hour bar. The downside is that you aren't allowed to take your own food or drinks to the pool (not even water!), you have to buy it from the bar, which is quite expensive. Overall I think that Varkas is a great place to stay but remember 2 things: 1. don't do any damage - they charge you stupid amounts if you do! 2. Most of the activities that 2wentys offer you when you arrive are a rip-off, you can do them much cheaper if you organise them youselves.

Really good considering I had pretty much expected the worst. The rooms were a good size with nice balconies. No facilities but seva is down the road with gym 24 hour bar n huge pool with a bar in it. :) Varkas showers are disgusting but u do get used to it. The maid service is rubbish and didnt come for the first 4 days until i told her one day it was disgusting and NEEDED doing. Varkas, Seva and Athanasia r right next to eachother and u wont feel left out being in any of them as they r all apart of the same 2wentys accomodation. But yea, u'll love it, Seva is definatly the best hotel in Kardamena as it is 24hour and constantly hav ppl who r up for fun. Best of luck and have loads of fun :)

The maid was really rude and shouted at us constantly in Greek and I’m pretty sure that she stole my camera. The toilet and shower were really rank. However, Kardamena is a brilliant place and the hotel you stay at doesn't matter because you will only use it to sleep and we didn't even do much of that as the nightlife is great

I would advise to stay clear of this hotel, infested with ants and broken locks. No bar or swimming pool even as a young person who didnt spend much time in the hotel, I was still disapointed by it, the hotel is so bad that there is no one working there. We were given our keys on the first night and told that it was sush a crap hotel that they couldnt find any one who was willing to work at the Varkas hotel. If you are looking for a decent hotel, I would say go to the seva hotel, great bar and a big swimming pool.
