Great holiday and staff

We enjoyed our stay at Norida Beach Hotel, Kos so much that we have booked to go again this May. The staff were very freindly and helpful, the food was good, rooms very clean and fridge well stocked. The animators were very good with the children and put on really good shows in the evening for the children and adults.

The chinese restaurant on sight is very good, you have to book it the day before you want to go as it is very busy. There is an Adult only bar and Adult only swimming pool if you want a bit of peace and quiet. They have a little snack bar on the beach that serves burgers, chips etc and cocktails all day; The restaurant has a wide variety of food on offer and no-one was ill when we were there, have read several reviews and moost are good.

Would definately recommend this Hotel to anyone whether they are young, old, have children.
Very relaxing and enjoyable Holiday, worth the money.

Worst holiday ever

By nature my wife and I don't complain, we'll usually put up quite happily with small glitches or failing standards and concentrate on the positives, but on this occassion all I can say is I wish this website had less than 1 point ratings.

We stayed at norida beach in August 2006 and were a bit disappointed on arrival. Our room was shabby and dull and equipped to perhaps a 2 or 3 star standard at best. The first thing we noticed though was the smell of raw sewage, and despite a number of complaints about this, the smell persisted for the entire 2 weeks of our holiday, both inside our room and on our balcony area.

We also noticed very quickly that the drainage in the bathrooms wasn't the best. If you had a shower immediately after using the toilet, you often got backwash flooding up onto the bathroom floor!

The next morning, imagine our surprise when laid there naked due to the heat, a maid walks in without even so much as a knock! Even "NO, GET OUT" resulted in her coming in and cleaning around us!!

Food in the restaurant was just about palatable, although it gave me an upset stomach twice that required a dose of immodium. Our main complaint with the food was that this so called air-conditioned restauraunt only seemed to have the air-con turned on near the entrance, so when you went to eat it was just unbearable.

Snacks were no better. Considering we were staying on something called an ULTRA all inclusive package, I had visions of a better class of food and service than what we had in Jamaica a few years ago. On the contrary, snacks were limited to a cling film wrapped crusty roll with a piece of sweaty feta, some dry cake or a hot dog. I ask you what exactly is 5 star about a hot dog ?!

The hotel also has an onsite chinese restaurant that you can book into for your evening meal instead of the buffet restaurant. Unfortunately in the 14 nights we were there we were unable to get into this restaurant and the receptions staff recommended that we get up at 5am and book in with reception then. Seeing as we were on holiday, there was no way I was getting up at 5am!

Drinks were no better. In fact we were there during the busiest week of the season and there were queues at the bars that lasted 30 minutes or more at which point you were allowed 3 drinks per order, and we would be given half pint glasses, three quarters full, and the beer tasted flat or watered down. My wife was equally unimpressed as there wasn't a drop of brandy or metaxa to be found in the hotel!

Also, you are provided with a mini bar in your room that is supposed to be stocked every other day, yet on our 14 night stay it was stocked 3 times!

It wasnt just drinks that we'd paid for and didn't get value for - most of the hotels facilities were oversubscribed. During the 14 days of our stay we were unable to find a single lounger or sunbed by the pool or on the beach. We had to resort to buying inflatable lilo's and lying on these on the shingle beach, which didn't feel much like a 5 star experience to me!

Entertainment wise this hotel was pathetic. I don't really find men dressing up as women that entertaining, especially not every night, and because of the drinks situation, you couldn't even get drunk to help the entertainment become even remotely amusing.

Finally, the staff at the hotel were arrogant and just plain rude most of the time. When we asked for help on several occassions, we didn't get anything more than scowls and rude responses. On one occassion my wife asked for a packed lunch (provided as part of the ULTRA all inclusive package) and was 3 minutes late (the time to get your name on the list was 8pm and we asked at around 8:03pm). She was told in no uncertain terms that it was her "own stupid fault for being late" that she couldn't order the packed lunch!! Surely a 5 star service hotel would of just added her name to the list!

After our first week of hell in this hotel we spent a lot of extra money to hire a car and left first thing in the morning and returned only last thing at night. This was the only way we felt we could salvage our holiday as the hotel was just disgraceful.

Overall this holiday was very expensive at nearly two grand for two weeks and we didn't get to use any of the facilities that we'd paid for. The actual cost became just over three and a half grand once we'd hired the car and left the hotel for the second week.

As for the ULTRA part of their ULTRA all inclusive package, I can only assume that this is some sort of ridiculous joke.

If we'd of paid maybe £600 for the holiday, I wouldn't of minded any of this and would of happily hired the car and gone off site every day, but at the end of the day we paid 5* ultra all inclusive prices and received 2* bed and breakfast service.

Since returning we have been in correspondance with hotels 4u on a regular basis, who have basically done nothing to redress this situation. They have however admitted that the hotel is NOT 5* as we know it, rather it is a rating that THEY have given the hotel and that Norida have been given by some greek authority. As such, they acknowledge that this hotel isn't of the standard it is being advertised and sold as.

Unfortunately the only other thing that they have repeatedly shown to us in their letters is that they couldn't care less once they have your money. We are now starting legal proceedings to get our money back.

No hot water for the whole week of our stay. Wet and dirty towels, leaking air conditioning, nails sticking out of the planks of wood holding up the mattress. Awful and boring food - okay if you like cabbage for breakfast! The staff kept telling us to come back the next day when we tried to complain - they were the most unhelpful and rude staff I have ever come across. I do not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy - definitely not a five star or four star!

It is a very clean hotel, the food was well cooked if a little boring after the first week. The drinks were plentiful but the Grants whisky was not like the Grants whisky that you get at home. The staff were all very good.
I had informed the hotel that I was disabled but the only room that they could give me was up a flight of eight stairs so I was not particulalry impressed with that, mind you the arrangements for the disabled al over the island of Kos was not too good. I feel that perhaps I am being a little unfair as I did stay there fot two weeks and it was then only three weeks until the hotel closed for the winter.

This hotel was very nice but not the accommodation. We were stuck up a hill in a shack. Complained to the manager and he told me we needed a room in a mental hospital because the room we booked was supposed to be in the hotel. He told us to pack our bags only because they were overbooked.

My husband and I took our 15 year old daughter, her best friend our brother and mum so our party was aged between 15 and 64!! We had the most fantastic time, the hotel was amazing, clean and tidy, the food was fantastic there was something to suit everyones taste. The staff couldnt do enough for us and the entertinment team were simply the best. My husband and I went to Antigua last year yet this holiday beat even that! There were tears all around when it was time to leave. We will definitely come again. If you are thinking of going here, please do, you will not be disappointed. Thanks to everyone there for making our holiday so memorable.

I just came back from a week long holiday at Norida Beach Hotel in Kos. Went there on the 19th October 2005. There was eight of us that went as it was my friends 18th birthday. We went there last year for her 17th and the animators working at the hotel made it such a great day last year we thought we would go back again. The weather last year was perfect - a really nice temperature, however this year there were a couple of windy days. I found myself sitting by the pool with my jacket on and a towel wrapped around me! The restaurant in the hotel is very nice with waiters greeting you on arrival. Only thing that i found a bit odd is they take you to the table furthest away from the door! The food is very nice - a wide variety to please most people. There were two vegetarians in our party and they found the variety of food on offer suitable. The beach is lovely with a beach bar playing music which adds to the holiday atmosphere. I took part in the water sports operating from the beach which i thought was reasonably priced. The hotel rooms are lovely. We actually had the same rooms which we had last year. Me and my friend got locked out of our room for the night and had to stay in another room. I think the door handle fell off on the inside as this was a reoccuring problem with the bathroom door! However the rooms are very clean and we had a lovely view of the mountain and at night we could see the town of Kardamena lit up. The shops in Kardamena are quite repetitive. However there are some great restaurants and clothes shops.
The entertainment in the hotel is brilliant. There is always lots going on. The animators are friendly and can speak fluent english. The shows they put on in the evening are very funny but after a few cocktails they are even funnier! I did take part in bingo and it is actually quite educational as after a week you will know all the numbers in about 5 different languages! I would definitely recommend this hotel for a family holiday as there is something for everyone. One piece of advice i would give is to deliberately ask for a room in the hotel not in the family village part of the resort. It is a very steep hill to keep walking up and down!

Spacious rooms but scratty beach

We stayed for 1 week 8/10/05. Arrived at 2am in morining and greeted by very helpful man on reception who spoke perfect english + 4 other languages. Good points - Hotel rooms were spacious and comfortable with free mini bar, Adults only bar/terrace is quite classy with nice atmosphere - this is serves drinks until midnight but we were there until 1am most nights as they don't rush you to drink up. Bar staff polite/chatty, and also speak english. The Taverna next to the beach is open for lunch and is quieter than the main resturant - food here is limited but good. The chinese resturant was very good with waiter service and you could see the 2 chinese cooks preparing your meals which was good. We had to book 2 days in advance but it was worth it.
Dissapointments - the beach is a bit scratty, with tired looking sun loungers/umbrellas but they are free.
The entertainment was so bad it was funny, - don't be tricked into playing bingo - it costs 5 euros for one card and they make the game last half an hour. We were so bored we gave our card to a child on the next table. The main resteraunt looks impressive but most nights the food was not nice. I can only imagine that it was the end of the season and they were using up whatever they had left in the freezer. The pizza's and salad bar was ok but you can't eat this all week.

The nearest village is KARDAMENA, and the hotel runs a free coach several times a day. You can walk but it takes about an hour along the beach. The hotel recommended a resturant in the village called 'ALVI', we booked a meal and whilst the surroundings were very nice, we were dissapointed with the food, we ordered Mousaka and steak and neither of us could eat our meals. The steak was not fresh and the mousaka looked like it was prepared on mass and then warmed up. We paid and left very dissapinted. We later found out that the hotel reps/receptionists get commission from the some local resturants for each customer they send to their resturant. We did eat in some of the smaller tavernas were the food was freshly prepared and excellent. I would advise others to try some of the smaller tavernas as they rely on your business and provide quality food at a good price.

Out and about, Kos town was good with plenty to do and see. We also took at boat trip to BODRUM which costs about 20 euro - Do not book your days trips via your hotel rep as its much cheaper buying from one the many tour operators in Kardamena and they provide pick ups/drop offs from most of the local hotels.

Local Bars The local nightlife is amazing. Although we were only on a romantic getaway so therefore only visited the local clubs/bars twice we could see they had much to offer. I just wish I'd of visited there ten years ago!
