It's a 5 star resort and it shows. We were staying in a bungalow suite with a 4 by 4 meter bacony looking over the garden, pools and sea all the way to Turkey. At night the occasional cruise ship slowly passed by.
We especially loved the salt/sea water pools. It's a nice pebble beach, so be sure to bring special watershoes to protect your toes. Housekeeping was always friendly and although not everyone spoke English, there was always someone nearby to help translate. It's not a boutique hotel, so you're quite anonymous which in itself can be very relaxing.
We're a 50+ couple, but for children (grandchildren) there is a special pool surrounded by couples with young children, a playground next to the pool on the beach and a clubhouse halfway up the gardenpath (English and German).
We rented a car (automatic) across the road (next to the mini market/hotel also has a lshop in the cellar) from Budget and got a good deal. Three days and CDW plus full insurance for 118 euro's. Particularly nice was our early morningdrive to the mountain village of Zia (arriving 9 o'clock) therefor having the town to ourselves and enjoying our morning coffee on a roof terrace not bothered by the tourbusses who will be arriving at half past ten. It's also a great place to watch sunsets. Drove aroung the entire island, had lunch with the peacocks in the Plaka, did some shopping in Kos city, but loved having a little bay in Limionas all to ourselves.
Next time no full board for us. Food was very good, but way too much and once in a while we love a little local flavour.
Easy flights from Holland, well organised transfers in air-conditioned busses. Great trip.

Empross Thermes Natural hot springs - Empross Thermes, waste of your time, overcrowded, difficult to find, hard to get there with the car, if it is not SUV or 4*4, because it is sitauted under the large cliff... not developed :(
Bodrum day trip Probably best and a lot cheaper to do this yourself.
read this go on the guided morning walks at the hotel. dont bother getting to the airport early roll up onthe cattle class organised coaches and dont expect any organisation once inside the airport, every man for himself.

The breakfast room was very large and the choice of food was fantastic. There was a huge selection of breads, cakes, fruit, cereals, hot food etc. We dined twice in The Pavillions restaurant for dinner which was also very nice, great choice and not too unreasonably priced. There was a guitarist playing in the background which added to the ambience.
The swimming pools were excellent and kept very clean. Water gymnastics was on daily (except Sat)at 11.30. If that sounds too energetic for you you could lie on your sun lounger and order food and drink from the bar. The non alcoholic cocktails were very good.
There was a lunch buffet served but we normally went into Kos town for lunch, the Old Town Cafe does excellent food and is a lovely place to sit and people watch also much cheaper (Greek salad 3.50 compared to hotel 7). There are quite a few cafe/bars in that area that are a great alternative at night to Bar street with all the British/Irish pubs. Two restaurants we went to that i would highly recommend are Hamam (Old town Square) and the Ampavris Taverna (5 minute walk from the town, all the taxi drivers know it), both serving excellent authentic Greek food and very reasonable (30 for 2 inc starters, main courses and wine).
There are some lovely walks around Kos town and the Port. Buses pass by the hotel every 30 minutes and the fare is 1.05. Taxis cost 8. We found that car hire was cheaper in the town than at the hotel. We also found that while the hotel shop was well equiped it was very expensive. My husband used the hotel internet and found it extremely slow, again for people who wish to use the internet there were 2 places in the old town that were much better.
We decided to treat ourselves and go for massages and spa treatments in the hotel, well recommended!. Treatments are not cheap same price as you would pay at home but they are very relaxing and afterwards you can relax in your fluffy dressing gown by the indoor swimming pool with a freshly squeezed fruit juice.
For people who are into gardening the hotel did tours of the gardens on a Thursday morning, they also had morning walking tours for early risers.
One complaint i did have with the hotel was the cot they supplied for our baby, it was a travel cot which was very uncomfortable and she ended up sleeping in the bed with us.
Overall the hotel was fantastic, everyone was lovely and friendly and we have booked to go back in September.
