just the place to relax

this is my second review, as the memory of our stay still puts a smile on my face.after a few early on hiccups on arrival, the staff helped us to settle in nicely. The staff worked very hard and nothing was too much trouble always with a genuine smile. it was a pleasure to be among such pleasant people. the hotel lacked nothing, rooms were kept spotless. food was always tasty and the waiting on staff made time for a joke or two or help you to grasp the the basic greek words. the setting of the grounds and thier private beach withfree sunbeds, towels, sunshades, really made you feel spoilt and well looked after. My sister and I hope to return 2012, as we met and made some new friends while there, which I am sure had alot to do with the atmosphere of the whole place, which encouraged relaxing conversation and chit chat. A great place to unwind or explore all kefalonia has to offer the choice is yours,

Great Staff, Bad Room

This was our first visit to the White Rocks Hotel and to Kefalonia. It is a very attractive island with very friendly people most of whom speak English. The hotel, albeit very clean and tidy, appears to have been built by an NCP car park architect (concrete shuttering which doesn't reflect light)! The Staff are excellent and are always ready to help. The main draw back was our room. Based on the third floor (one above the main lobby), our room overlooked not the “mountain scene” the First Choice brochure eluded to, but trees right outside our balcony making it very dark and the main road into Lassi less than 30 feet away! Noise was awful from cars, mopeds and several lorries from the cement works nearby. These kept us awake most nights and early mornings. We couldn't use the balcony properly for this reason and always had to keep the windows and shutters closed! We strongly suggest you take a sea view, or one of the bungalows (anything away from the road), because when full, there is no chance for a move! Drinks are also very expensive €6 for a V&T €16-22 for a bottle of plonk and beer at the hotel wasn't the cheapest!

We had a wonderful time. The hotel was clean, all the staff where amazing and couldnt do enough for you. The food was lovely, couldnt fault it. Buffet breakfast and silver service dinner. The Island is beautiful, and although is quiet compared to some Greek island there is enough quiet bars to drink in. Full of history and lots to learn about. Great Island to visit for a relaxing break.

Enjoyed White Rocks visit & Kefalonia - wonderful island & people.
White Rocks provided excellent rooms - if you want the seaview you need to pay the supplement. Menu varied and v good value. All staff in restaurant very friendly and helpful. Maitr D has good sense of humour and is interested in clients. Good table allocated. Bar service very friendly. Rooms well cleaned. Excellent linen - changed regularly. Beach towels provided. Very clean and good beaches - plenty of sunbeds - free.
Plenty to see on the island. Rooms air conditioned. Great holiday

Great, relaxing hotel.

We wanted a relaxing holiday and thats exactly what we got at the White Rocks Hotel. They make you feel so welcome and the staff can't do enough for you. The location of the hotel is perfect, with a private pebbley beach one side and a sandy beach the other side which the locals and tourists use, but you are always guarenteed your own space. We found the food was very tasty; for breakfast there was a buffet of absolutely everything, and although there was little choice in the evening we found the food to be very tasty. As for the rooms they were a little dark, but they were very clean and the bathroom was very modern.I would recommend paying for a sea view. We found the resort itself , Lassi didn't have much to offer. When we visited Scala we thought that seemed to be more lively with bars all within easy walking distance of each other. As we wanted a very relaxing holiday though we didnt venture from the hotel much, which I think says how great it was there!!

We Would Go Back Again

This is our first visit to the White Rocks Hotel. In fact it was our first visit to Kefalonia. It is a very attractive island with very friendly people who (in the main) all speak English (my Greek not being up to par I was grateful). The hotel, although decor-wise probably needs updating (not keen on the shuttered concrete effect - but this is just a personal thing), was excellent. From the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms, the service and friendliness of all staff and to the hotel grounds and surrounding area - all contributed to a memorable and highly enjoyable stay. We will most certainly return for another holiday - longer this time. This is the best compliment we can give since we rarely go to a place twice. The local airport needs extending though. Not enough space to deal with all the departure flights - especially since we now have to be at airports so early for the security checks. Come on guys - spend some money.

I absolutely love this place. I have been coming here for over 9 years! This hotel is excellent and relaxing. The staff are great and so helpful. I love it there!! I am definitely coming back next year- i CAN'T WAIT. The private beach is small, peaceful and there are no sea urchins in the water either which is fantastic! :)

My family have been going to the White Rocks for over 25 years as the title says it is like going home it is so friendly the staff are wonderful and I have so many happy memories of there & can't wait to go back.

A magical place

This is our 6th year running at the Rocks and we will return in 2006. The Hotel is simply a magical place were you can just relax, enjoy the stunning views, excellent food and friendly service from all of the staff. The Island has everything to offer the seasoned traveller.

Have stayed here 13 times. Perfect scenery, excellent beaches. Wonderful staff in a first class hotel. There is something magical about this hotel.

Top Local Tips for Kefalonia

Best time to go Go in May if you can, everything is fresh and new and the wild flowers are glorious. Weather can be really hot even at this time. Most places are reasonably quiet, and not too much traffic so driving around is not a problem. Don't miss Fiskardo, and visit Embilisi Beach on the way. Tiny, but perfect.

Taxis to Argostoli,Local Transport and shops. Expect to pay 5-6 euros each way from hotel to Argostoli,(The Islands capital)Buses do not run until end of May.Shops are not open in the afternoona s with most Greek Islands.Plenty of good sandy beaches and bars.

Out and about Transport system isn't great. To see the island I suggest rent out a car they are reasonably cheap. There is some fantastic sights to see. Too numerous to add here. Since Kelfalonia is built on a mountain the roads are made up of hairpin bends, so unless you know the roads well try to avoid driving at night.
