What can I say! We had the perfect wedding and perfect holiday. The San Giorgio could not have done enough for us and we have already booked to return next year for our first anniversary. I've written so many reviews so won't repeat myself but this island truely is perfect. Maybe one day we will visit and stay there to live!

We have been going to Kefalonia for 5 years, always staying at the San Giorgio hotel. The hotel is a friendly, family run complex with beautiful clean rooms with great views and excellent staff. You can spend your days lazily by the pools or use the courtesey bus to go into skala. The San Giorgio also gives you the perfect base to travel around this beautiful island either by excursions or hire a car. The roads are very quiet and the views are spectacular and some beautiful places to visit. Looking forward to going back this year.

It's so lovely in fact, that next year we return for our 7th time to get married in Kefalonia! Each time we go, another detail has been added to make this complex even better. This year we stayed in one of their newer apartments and it must be said it was one of the best rooms we have had in Greece! Very modern yet still with plenty of character. We are never disappointed with our holidays here and no matter where we travel in the world, a year isn't complete without a trip to Kefalonia.

Just returned yesterday from our second Thomson holiday at San Giorgio in as many years. I could moan about the fact that they still don't provide marmalade at breakfast. I could gripe about the early-ness of the evening return time of the free shuttle bus from Skala (9pm). I could mutter about the slow service in the Restaurant in the evenings. But I won't - because that would be pathetic! If you are looking for a hot sunny stress-free holiday - oodles of great places to eat and drink, a few water sports, surrounded by delightful lush countryside - this is for you. You won't want to come home.

San Giorgio Skala has to be a place everyone should visit for the location, rooms, restaurant bar and swimming pools. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the food was great, the entertainment excellent. The complementary bus that takes you down into Skala always on time running all though the day and night till 9PM. The Olympic rep, John, couldn't do enough to make our trip great, always available and could always be contacted. The excursions to the islands fantastic. An incredibly beautiful island a must to visit!!!!!

Well, San Giorgio seems to have got it almost perfect.
It didnt feel like a hotel with endless corridors and pokey soul-less rooms. The rooms some of which are self-catering for 4 or 6 people - are arranged in small blocks up and around the hillside. Tastefully and cleverly designed. We had a couple of short flights of steps from the main level (pool, bar, reception) to our room but it never bothered us.
The Room: spacious, nice furniture, comfortable bed, fridge with glasses and chilled bottle of water waiting for us; more than enough storage space; en-suite with bath, shower over, hair-dryer, hand-basin and WC (we could flush all waste
unlike most Greek public loos where you must put used loo-paper in a bin). Room was tastefully decorated and had brilliant air-conditioning; safe was 26EURO for 2 weeks (probably un-necessary as Kefalonians seem by nature to be trustworthy), Balcony with a sea view. Cleaned to perfection every day by a lovely friendly lady, one of many who keep everywhere spotlessly clean, tidy and fresh. Returning in the afternoon/ evening we were always welcomed by fresh flowers picked from the lush gardens.
Hotel facilities: Tennis court, table-tennis, Pool table, unobtrusive sports TV, 2 main swimming pools and a separate paddling area for young children. Loungers and sunshades around every pool from where we had wonderful views of the sea and distant mainland/Zante. We didnt use the hotel shop but it seemed to have most things youd need/want including full range of English newspapers. Freshly-made light meals available throughout the day wonderful self-serve salad bar 5EURO for a large bowl they insist you fill it REALLY full. Bar open all day / all evening ice tea/ ice coffee, cocktails, ice creams
great service.
Hotel Meals: Sadly, breakfast is poor. Every day - cheap cereals, rolls, processed cheese / processed ham, bread for toasting, sachets of butter, apricot jam, or honey, diluted orange squash, peach juice, coffee/tea. Every 3 days average-quality croissants or low-grade tinned fruit.
Dinner: reasonable menu, reasonable prices, good quality but you have to be very patient simply not enough waiters. We only ate there when we didnt want to go into town.
We ate out mostly in Skala town: great food and service at Galera (their Mezze is fab), The Pines (probably the best breakfast and evening menu) , and Penelope (mock-up of a ship half-way into town) was great fun.
We had one poor meal a fish special of the day at a Taverna. Apparently, unless youre prepared to pay for fresh it is generally considered better to avoid fish.
Skala is about one-and-a-half miles from the hotel slow 40-minute walk. Seats on the free Hotel minibus must be booked the same day as the journey - 6pm (return at 9) or 9pm (and get a 5EURO taxi back). Minibus also goes in and returns at 2-hourly intervals throughout the day from 10am.
Theres a good value supermarket in Skala, on the main street, on your right walking up. Youll need to go to the capital Argostoli, for anything resembling a UK size supermarket we came across a LIDL just this side of the town which sold 9 litres of water for just over 1 EURO.
If youre thinking of doing the Old Skala walk some advice: buy the guide at the supermarket 3EURO; if youve got a hire car drive up as far as you can, including a long section on rough track; its really too steep, hot and dusty to walk it. Then explore from when you get out. Theres bits and pieces to see aftermath of the 1953 earthquake.
Car hire : Greekstones was excellent we arranged it by phone and fax while in the UK. 6 days Hyundai Accent Auto 300EURO - totally covered for all eventualities.
Would we go back? Of course! No hestitation.

The room was large and very well equipped. T.V. only has two stations, B.B.C. world and Euronews. We were bed and breakfast but the choice at breakfast was very basic. Only bread, ham, cheese, jams, ham, cereal and occasionally fruit. If you wanted something different you had to pay for it.
Hotel site is on the side of a steep hill which involved a very tiring uphill walk for residents in some of the rooms. If you have difficulty walking this may not be the hotel for you.
Two pool areas, both excellent with plenty of sunbeds and great views.

Returned last night after our 4th visit and just booked again for next year! No matter how many different countries we visit, a holiday back to beautiful Kefalonia is a must. I have been going to Kefalonia for 16 years and fell in love with the San Giorgio and now, so has my boyfreind! We love the staff, so friendly and willing to help, the views are amazing and it's so peaceful and idyllic that you just can't beat it. I am already homesick and miss sitting on my balcony with a glass of San Giorgio wine watching the sunset. If I had money, I'd stay for the whole season if I could! Just so you know, the kittens are being well looked after and being fed by George and Makis and some cats have survived the winter from last year so I have hope that they can keep going strong for next year.

Great Hotel with friendly staff and clean rooms. Three Lovely swimming pools.
However, hotel kept 6 emaciated-looking kittens (presumably to keep mice down). I was informed the cats are left to die at the end of the season (October) and for that reason I would not stay there again!!
