The best hotel we have stayed in.

The two weeks we stayed at the Gonatas were made more enjoyable by the quality and nothing is too much trouble of the staff. The welcome was exuberant, the breakfasts a delight and the views tremendous. We are returning in October such was the excellent impression the hotel and staff made on us.

Superb hotel

This hotel has a beautiful location, is absolutely spotless and very friendly with most guests coming back again and again. Be aware that sunbeds do not have mattresses, and that the breakfast provided is Greek, and not continental though superb freshly cooked breakfasts are available for a couple of euros. Food is served at present only until 5pm but is freshly cooked, superb quality, reasonably priced and accompanied by free wine. There are lots of restaurants in the village. The pool is excellent and across the quiet road in front are steps leading down to a lovely pebble cove. Views from the hotel are stunning. Paradise beach next door is excellent and does a superb soufflé. Perasmo on the quay does excellent kleftikoo. Other recommended ones would be Pergola up the Argostoli road and Makis on the Sami road at the opposite end of the village.

Beautiful Location and Village

I fully agree with the review from G Warner. We were also there in September 2005.The breakfast was wholly inadequate, as stated the coffee and toast making facilities were woeful and a boiled egg everyday for two weeks could have been disastrous!! Sun beds were also breaking up, granted it was at the end of the season but that lack of enthusiasm in giving that bit extra was a real shame. Saying that we managed to have a lovely time and the staff was excellent.

A view to die for

Excellent location overlooking sea and Island of Ithaca. Very quiet. 10 minutes walk from Harbour. Minutes walk from Paradissos Beach. The best local restaurant 2 minutes walk away. Best rooms on upper floor - allocated to Sunvil. Basically a small friendly & simple family run hotel. No safe deposit facilities. Although b&b provided their breakfast big disappointment...guests encouraged to bring own food to table! Hard boiled eggs daily. Poor coffee machine. Inadequate toaster. Nice pool area, however no cushions supplied for sunbeds. Lounge bar never open. Refrigerator for guest's use on stairs. A delightful hotel spoilt by the owners lack of enthusiasm for providing those 'little things' that would make this hotel a real 'gem'.
