This is one of the few hotels that you can stay in at night for a drink as the prices are reasonable and Makis will entertain you in his own greek way. They are a charming couple who will make sure your stay enjoyable and relaxing.
A very good breakfast, and comfortable rooms.
Grandma Makis is always around the hotel watering her plants and enjoying her life. They have a new baby now and I think her time will be looking after her grandson.
I cannot speak high enough of this hotel and I feel that many people want to keep it a secret.

We have had a fantastic time here with our two daughters aged 10yrs and 13yrs. Everything is nearby eg Melissani Lake & Drogarati Caves. The beach is 2 mins away and Sami a pleasant 20 min flat stroll along the beach where you can find many restaurants to eat. There are NO egg&chip places just plain good Greek cooking = fabulous and fresh. The hotel was spotless and Makis & Eleanor his wife perfect hosts making sure that everything was just perfect for us. We shall definitely be returning next year.

Hardly anything to criticise and much to recommend. The hair drier didn't work and we had to ask for a plug for the washbasin - that's it. The hotelier, Makis, and his wife, Elena, are a charming and friendly couple who make you feel completely welcome. They will help you with your Greek, recommend where to eat, how to get to places and enquire after your well-being; we twice got Metaxa on the house as a night-cap. The room was spotlessly cleaned every day, the bed completely re-made and bed-clothes neatly folded on top, with fresh flowers every few days. Makis's elderly mother looks after the many plants in pots that decorate various parts of the the hotel, particularly the central courtyard and the balcony of the breakfast-room. I'd thoroughly recommend the Athina Beach Hotel. Beside the excellent accommodation, if you have a hire car the location puts you in easy reach of all parts of the island.
