I've been travelling to Ios since 1989 - as a single girl with my friends, and latterly as a family. I met my husband at Marcos Beach in 1989 - he was working for Jackie and Marcos,, the owners. We try and get back as often as possible. Its been amazing to see the changes in the hotel, the addition of the pool etc. Jackie and Marcos are a great couple who go out of their way to look after their guests. Not the "poshest" hotel by any stretch of the imagination but comfortable, clean and secluded. I will always love Ios - as a "grown up" its still a wonderful place to visit with a child - so we don't go out clubbing and getting absolutely off our faces on lethal cocktails, but we still have a great time. Mylopotas beach is stunning, there are some good restaurants and a great place to just escape from it all.

I'd recommend anyone to visit Ios (maybe avoid August - too hot and busy, even for the locals). Don't believe all the hype - sure you can party til you puke, but there is something for everyone. The locals are friendly and you are incredibly well treated if you are travelling with children. Try it, you'll love it!
