Top Local Tips for Ios
Ios During the Shoulder Season My wife and I went to Ios in mid-June, and learned that many of the "big" bars (e.g., Sweet Irish Dream) don't even open until the first week of July. Something to keep in mind if you are heading for the traditional overcrowded, debauchery-filled summer club scene -- however, there's still plenty of nightlife during late June, though it is a little more mellow, and you can actually walk through the streets of Chora without pushing through a crowd. If you're over 30 -- like me -- mid to late June might actually be the best time to visit the island, as it hasn't yet been over-infested by drunken college kids. (No offense to drunken college kids intended... I was one for many years beyond my graduation). Keep in mind that the island is essentially closed before June, as pretty much all the hotels and restaurants are shut down.
What you're looking for If you're going to party- stay up in the Village (what people call the main town which is up the hill from the port, port town, and this hotel). If you want good little taverns, beach, and casual interaction with other travelers and locals alike this is a great hotel in the area that you should be in (the port town).
Scooter Don't hesitate to rent a scooter to discover the island

We selected the hotel as we wanted somewhere that we could be fairly confident would be quiet at night - we were travelling with a two year old so we did not want to be in amongst the discos, but also obviously not somewhere miles from anywhere. The other main reason we chose to stay here was price.
The hotel itself is located just down the road - about a ten minute walk with a pushchair - from a good, sandy beach (which seemed to be used more by locals rather than tourists when we visited) which is itself a couple of minutes from the island port. The beach, port and its environs has a number of decent eating places, so in the end, we never found it necessary to venture up the hill into the main village for either food or entertainment. As a bonus, the buses to the beaches start off in the port, which means you always get a seat, before the masses get on in town!
The room we had contained cooking facilities, as well as air con, telly (with some English language channels) and a balcony, and was spacious, even with a cot added into the room. However, the best part of the hotel was the swimming pool (we rarely stay in hotels with pools as they are often out of our budget) which was a decent size (and depth!) - with a separate bit for the kids with plenty of sunloungers around it.
In general, this is a great family run hotel in a quiet location, but still convenient for a decent number of local restaurants, as well as the buses, beach boats and ferries. As other reviewers have stated, Niki and his family cannot do enough to help - he even sorted out my ferry tickets so we could pick them up in Pireaus - and is extremely knowledgable about all things Ios for example, where to go, where to eat and so on.
We will almost certainly return here in future summers, and have no hesitation in highly recommending this hotel.
