We stayed at the Chandris Chios as a family. It is the Best hotel in Chios. I look forward to staying again.

Top Local Tips for Hios

Highlights of our trip We spent a day hiking around Mesta / Olympi and at the black sand beach at Emporio (Mavros Gyalos). These were excellent. We visited in late March, which is off-season. The water was a little cold, but the waves were excellent for the kids, and we had a great time. Hiking around Mesta was also wonderful. By going off-season, we felt like we had the entire island to ourselves; a great trip overall

Things to do in Chios There are plenty of things to do on the island of Chios. Museums, the place where Homer was teaching, and lots of other archeological points of interest. Plenty and very nice public beaches for swimming in the summer and fantastic night life. Access is very convenient by Fast and luxurious Ferries and by plane as well. There are 10 flights per day from Athens and other major cities in Greece. Foods are great and there are plenty of restaurants from fast foods to elegant dinning. Transportation is great. The bus system is great both within the city and to the villages around the island. Taxis are nice and clean (mostly Mercedes Benz) and they are radio dispatched. A great selection of Car Rental companies, including all major American car rental companies, is available. It is a great place to visit, a great alternative to other major tourist attractions in Greece which are overcrowded especially during the summer months.
