Lovely hotel and fantastic staff
As frequent and adventurous travellers, we can thoroughly recommend Evia. Our stay at Hotel Stefania was pleasant and relaxing - the rooms were of an excellent standard (clean and large, and our terrace had a gorgeous view). Best of all were the staff who couldn't have been more welcoming - when we disappeared off to Athens for the night the manager sought us out the next day to find out where we'd been!
Athens is only two hours away on the bus (about EURO8 each)and we hired a car for three days with help from the rep - whose advice was excellent.
If you can, head into the mountains towards Steni as the scenery is breath-taking. Don't attempt it if you are not a confident driver as many of the smaller roads are unsurfaced and a bit hairy! The sandy beaches on the east side are beautiful - but windy. The beach at Kalamos was a real find.
At Stefania we didn't use the pool as the beach was just across the road but there were some leaves from the overhanging trees.

Relax
I would like to give an honest appraisal of my stay at the Hotel Stefania. The area was just right for a relaxing holiday and they say that it’s the people who make a holiday and that was the case with my stay for a week in the back end of August.06. I love the Greeks attitude to life and their laid back approach but if your looking for an energetic. Action packed adventure then I would advise to stay well clear of this hotel.
Also with the laid back approach there are drawbacks to be encountered i.e. Not very well organised when it comes to entertainment and providing facilities which other than sitting be side the pool is very limited.
So, the food was adequate but can be improved and the cost of traveling around is cheap. And the Three Yanis’s made my stay more than bearable. Take it as a relaxing holiday without the thrills.

OK
The rooms at the hotel were clean, and the staff friendly. The hotel certainly has alot of potential, however general cleanliness let it down. It was difficult to come across clean glasses and the bar area was never free of dirty plates and glasses. The pool I don't think had been cleaned all year!! The resort doesn't have much for young people (watersports, decent bars etc) and the restaurants sold mostly seafood. However, if its a quiet relaxing atmosphere you are looking for then it would maybe suit you! I don't want to put it down to much, as we did have a good time, however if they spent a little time trying to improve relatively simple things, it would make a big difference.

Very poor
After being there last year and having a great time we were very disappointed this year to find there was no entertainment Evie is no longer there and not being replaced after a lot of complaining we had a Greek night put on for one hour on last night. Hotel is now full of Greek holidaymakers being looked after a lot better than the Scottish. Very disappointing this time.

The worst holiday ever
There was absolutely nothing to do to recommend this holiday to anyone first of all there was no entertainment at all during the day or at night except for the last night there was Greek dancers on whoopee food was covered in flies and it was the same things to eat every morning and there was no labels beside the food at tea time to see what you were eating we told the manager this all week and nothing happened the pool was filthy and even the bar kept on running out of beer in which the one beer which was rotten, about the entertainment we were told that the girl who did the entertainment was seven months pregnant and they would not be getting anyone in for her so all in all this was the worst holiday I've ever had.
