Along with everyone else on the coach, we did not know what to expect from this hotel or "resort". Trying to find out about the area had resulted in a few sentences in travel books and these few reviews!
We found the hotel to be very good. The public area were very contemporary {Ikea show room comes to mind!}The rooms were excellent, not basic as we have come to expect in Greece. The meals were limited in choice however there was certainly something to suit each one of our party of 4. The could be tepid as is often the custom abroad however a microwave was provided to reheat. The only negative point would be with regards to the restaurant in that they did not reset tables with when guests had finished and this resulted in a mad search for cutlery, glasses etc. We certainly did not expect any entertainmentbut much toour delight we were entertained day and night ,if you so chose!. Evi was employed to keep us active with Greeek dancing lessons ,aquarobic and yoga and in the evenings her unique bingo and nightly "party" were held at the beach bar. Most of the fun was made by the guests themselves. Everyone who chose to join in had a thoroughly good time.If you prefer there is the bar by the pool and also the lounge inside for quiter evenings. The guests during our week were Scottish and French. The hotel only deals with 2 holiday companies. The location is ideal. A few steps from a little beach and a short walk from a very typical Greek holiday town.We only saw 3 english words during our stay!!! We had a fantastic time. You can have a fun holiday or choose to have a get away from it all break. This hotel is ideal for couples but not young and lively or families. Try it.

As frequent and adventurous travellers, we can thoroughly recommend Evia. Our stay at Hotel Stefania was pleasant and relaxing - the rooms were of an excellent standard (clean and large, and our terrace had a gorgeous view). Best of all were the staff who couldn't have been more welcoming - when we disappeared off to Athens for the night the manager sought us out the next day to find out where we'd been!
Athens is only two hours away on the bus (about EURO8 each)and we hired a car for three days with help from the rep - whose advice was excellent.
If you can, head into the mountains towards Steni as the scenery is breath-taking. Don't attempt it if you are not a confident driver as many of the smaller roads are unsurfaced and a bit hairy! The sandy beaches on the east side are beautiful - but windy. The beach at Kalamos was a real find.
At Stefania we didn't use the pool as the beach was just across the road but there were some leaves from the overhanging trees.
We found the breakfasts adequate - and in the evenings we preferred to eat at the many restaurants along the pretty Amarynthos promenade. Be warned - not everyone speaks English and you may struggle to get a menu.
Overall we loved our stay because it was atypical of the package holiday experience. There were few Brits around and the town is geared up for holidaymakers from Greece.

I would like to give an honest appraisal of my stay at the Hotel Stefania. The area was just right for a relaxing holiday and they say that it's the people who make a holiday and that was the case with my stay for a week in the back end of August.06. I love the Greeks attitude to life and their laid back approach but if your looking for an energetic. Action packed adventure then I would advise to stay well clear of this hotel.
Also with the laid back approach there are drawbacks to be encountered i.e. Not very well organised when it comes to entertainment and providing facilities which other than sitting be side the pool is very limited.
So, the food was adequate but can be improved and the cost of traveling around is cheap. And the Three Yanis's made my stay more than bearable. Take it as a relaxing holiday without the thrills.

The rooms at the hotel were clean, and the staff friendly. The hotel certainly has alot of potential, however general cleanliness let it down. It was difficult to come across clean glasses and the bar area was never free of dirty plates and glasses. The pool I don't think had been cleaned all year!! The resort doesn't have much for young people (watersports, decent bars etc) and the restaurants sold mostly seafood. However, if its a quiet relaxing atmosphere you are looking for then it would maybe suit you! I don't want to put it down to much, as we did have a good time, however if they spent a little time trying to improve relatively simple things, it would make a big difference.

After being there last year and having a great time we were very disappointed this year to find there was no entertainment Evie is no longer there and not being replaced after a lot of complaining we had a Greek night put on for one hour on last night. Hotel is now full of Greek holidaymakers being looked after a lot better than the Scottish. Very disappointing this time.

There was absolutely nothing to do to recommend this holiday to anyone first of all there was no entertainment at all during the day or at night except for the last night there was Greek dancers on whoopee food was covered in flies and it was the same things to eat every morning and there was no labels beside the food at tea time to see what you were eating we told the manager this all week and nothing happened the pool was filthy and even the bar kept on running out of beer in which the one beer which was rotten, about the entertainment we were told that the girl who did the entertainment was seven months pregnant and they would not be getting anyone in for her so all in all this was the worst holiday I've ever had.

Found this hotel dirty from tablecloths at dinner to the cutlery. Staff allowed cats to enter the dining area and witnessed cats eating from plates. Pool was extremely dirty and was not cleaned properly for eg chmeicals were added but not filtered.
Staff were rude and unhelpful the only people this hotel would appeal to is the type of person who goes on holiday to get drunk and is not bothered about whether or not the facilities are clean as they spend all the time at the bar. By the way I know of at least 3 people with ear infections so there is obviously still a problem at the Stefania.

I went with my mum and dad. When i first arrived I had my doubts that it would be a good holiday for someone at the ae of 18. However i was wrong - Not only did my parents find it relaxing, I had a great time druing the day and at night. The girl that provided the entertainment was so energetic had made sure that everyone had a great time, (especially at the bingo). The pool is no longer dirty. The hotel had people cleaning it out and fixing the pumps during my stay - i dont think the ear infections would be a problem now. The staff were really helpful. I would recommend it to most people. However, for those younger people who enjoy a night life outside of the hotel, it may not be the ideal holiday. There are places to go, but its not exactly Corfu! The people we met were fantastic and the beach bar stayed open until areound half three in the morning. I hope that David (from near Inverness) reads this when he gets back, and enjoyed the last few days of his holiday!
