The Candia Maris is one of the better hotels in Crete and certainly the best in Amoudara. The offerings of food and beverages are generally good. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are served in the Restaurant downstairs. In the afternoon several treats are served in/around the pool area. The rooms are equipped with a fridge that is stocked with beverages. Typical for crete the hotel has some issues with service but this is probably the case at all places except in Elounda. Many excursions can be taken from Amoudara and I would absolutely recommend that as the town is not really magnificent. Heraklion is very close, you can go there by bus. Agios Nikolaos & Rethymnon are great cities to visit.
