Preveli monastery is also well worth a visit. A boat leaves from Plakias at 1030 for Damnoni then Palm Beach - the boat is expensive but if you do want to see Palm Beach the boat is infintely preferable as a method of transport to car,, and on foot, forget it. There are more Germans than any other nationality which beats rowdy Brits and at least you get to skinny dip in clear clean water and get a tan without white bits!
