Excellent family holiday

Highly recommended for families and couples. Hotel has superb pool and other facilities which are really welllooked after. Self service buffets offer an excellent range of dishes, in the end we looked forward to coming home just to have a sandwich! No problems with getting drinks. Staff were really helpful and friendly except for one miserable poolside bar tender. Loved Crete, its scenery and fantastic weather.

Fantastic holiday!

We went as a group of 8 adults (35-40) and 8 children (4-10). Location wasn't great - not much around but that didn't matter as you don't need to venture outside the hotel! Rooms are small and basic but very clean. ALL staff are very helpful and friendly. Food and drink on tap - toasted sandwiches made to order 10am - noon were fantastic as was the homemade pizzas. There was so much choice at dinner you couldn't help but find at least one thing you fancied. red wine was yuk, but blokes found beer very drinkable! Spirits and cocktails good too. Pools were the best I have seen anywhere and the entertainment staff worked so hard day and night to keep everyone entertained. Grease Mania show was fab! Men responded to call of "waterpolo" at 3pm each day!! There is a UK kids club run by First Choice Holidays and if you go with First Choice you get this free - need to put names on list night before to reserve. We went with Thompson so could pay for the children but First Choice kids got preference. Most men wore smart shorts in restaurant and this seemed to be OK. We had a fantastic time and would go there again - but for longer !!

Do not hire the car from hotel rental!!!!!

Hotel Great, Animation team great, catering staff efficient but none too friendly. The hotel is perfect for young children and the evening entertainment caters for both children and adults. Swimming pool fantastic.

DO NOT HIRE A CAR FROM THE HOTEL.We had a toddler (20 months), first car seat we were given, the spring lock mechanism was not locking in properly and the plastic had worn down to the lock mechanism.We refused to use this car seat and another one was bought to the hotel. This one seemed to be safe enough so off we went. Halfway through the day he started getting a little restless. I looked in the mirror and he had managed to wriggle free of his seat. We tightened straps and still he managed to wriggle free. My wife had to sit in the back seat with him all the way back to hotel. Spoke to lady the next day and explained the situation. Asked for money back on the day we had not gone out (hired car for 2 days) and she said that we could not. I explained what had happened again as i thought maybe there was a communication error. there was not! she still refused to give my money back on the day we had not used because of a fault in car seat.

We are new parents, and with hindsight we would never have hired the car out with the little one had we known he was going to be so restless. We hold our hands up to that one. But when both the car seats fail you would expect SIXT to refund us for 1 day as a good will gesture.

I would advise that if you are thinking about hiring a vehicle, then go with the rental company next to the supermarket. better rates and possibly more goodwill should something go wrong!

Over all this was a great holiday apart from the car fiasco!

On holiday with grand children, so and daughter in law. Cleanliness, standard of food, beverages etc was excellent. Same for friendiness and service of the staff
Only critiscisms are that I feel the dress code for the evening meal should be enforced. (People not dressed appropiately for this standard of hotel) The rooms can be a little cramped for two adults and two children, otherwise we had an excellent holiday and would certainly recommend.

We went in september 2005 and this hotel really lived up to all expectations. we travelled with 2 children under 7 and are used to having to keep an eye on them. The animation team really made them welcome and they had plenty to do all day. The food was a bit repetitive but who cares when your not cooking it yourself. The rooms are basic but clean and tidy and we did not spend much time in them. We have already booked for 2 weeks next year and its nice to know we will have a nice holiday where the whole family is catered for. Highly recomended.

Our Worst Holiday

Travelling to our destination was as usual excellent. (Well done, First Choice).
On checking in to the hotel, the receptionists were very unhelpful as to the location of our rooms, by this they just handed us a map and said, 'enjoy your stay'. After this we were tagged with a red wrist band.

The next disappointment was 'The Food', I have no words to express my total shock as to the lack of quality, Hell's kitchen seems to ring a bell.
The Bars: The beverages available during the day were of poor quality, they described them as 'local'. We eventually found, if we paid for our drinks, the quality was as good as ever.
The entertainment was as I remember Butlins 1970.
We ate out of the hotel during the week at local restaurants, which were superb.
Although I have stated until now a negative opinion of the Louis Creta princess, I can add that all the bar and housekeeping staff were cheerful, polite and happy to be of help.

Top Local Tips for Crete

not platanias, the hotel is in maleme hope that they build more cocktail bars etc... not enough going on in maleme, platanias on the other hand is great. very nice place.

money saver the shop out side the hotel tend to be cheaper than the one inside the hotel, use the free bus to Chania its worth it, look aroud dont purchase the first thing that comes to light it will be cheaper else where!Also when leaving at the airport you have to wait to be checked in this is usually out side we had to wait around for about an hour and it was so hot, dress cool!

Hotel Shop Go across the road to the shop rather than the hotel shop. Half the price and friendlier staff
