Our stay in Iraklio Hotel was for 5 nights from 27th of Oct to the 1st of Nov 06, Our room had great views from the balcony of the city. Our room was average size and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a little cramped and there was no bath or shower screen. Was not impressed with the shower area. Breakfast was served in dining room or you could have it bought to the room. It was nice with servings of fresh bread, boiled eggs, jams, orange juice and greek cake..tea and coffee. Because of the location in the city area it was a little noisy with the street traffic but thats the norm in Greece.

The Galaxy Hotel was absolutely beautiful and had the friendliest staff of any hotel I've ever stayed in. They made us feel very welcome and at home. The food was excellent and the pool was a great retreat. It also had a great location; very close to a lot of good sights in Crete. I will stay there again next time I am in Crete!

I stayed at Galaxy in June 2006, and well what can I tell you to make you want to stay there. Well I could bore you about the details of my room (immaculately cleaned everyday, fully functional -and quiet- air conditioning, multi channel -and language- TV, modem, minibar, and a very comfy bed!), but I guess you want to know about the other things that make this hotel a great place to stay.

What impressed me the most was the way the staff went about their duties. All spoke English, were always willing to help, very polite and couteous, and incredibly efficient at performing their duties. You are made to feel welcome, and you do feel a little sad when you have to leave, as the workers there become familiar to you.

An example of their efficiency was when I asked reception to organise a hire car for me. It was all arranged by 9.30 the following morning, as a representative from the car hire company was already waiting for me in reception, and all I had to do was complete a form. Minimum fuss (actually zero fuss).

If you want efficiency, a welcoming feeling, genuine hospitality, then I would recommend Galaxy!

I had the great pleasure of staying at the Galaxy for three days, and my only wish is that I had stayed longer. The staff treated us as honored guests, eagerly attending to all details and helping with our travel arrangements. The room was lovely, and dining poolside was comfortable and quite romantic. In fact, I was amazed by the quality and variety of foods, served with a professional eye to detail. Yes, I will happily return.

the hotel was so great, it gave off the idea of being a resort on the inside with the pool and patio area. the staff were excellent and very knowledgeable and the food was great!!! would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Heraklion!!!

The Galaxy Hotel was probably one of my favorite stays in Greece. The staff was genuine and helpful at every point during my stay. (When I was in search of a drugstore, one staff member practically WALKED me there!) Everyone was helpful and kind, at any time of the day. Very clean, accomodating rooms, a great view and location, beautiful pool and lounge area, and excellent, excellent staff. I cannot say enough good things about the Galaxy Hotel!

My stay at the Galaxy Hotel in Heraklion, Crete was incredible! The staff was very friendly, always smiled, was well spoken in English, and was willing to help you in any way possible. The relaxing atmosphere helped me rest assure that my stay on Crete was going to be one of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had. One of its greatest aspects is that the Galaxy has a clean, country-club feel to it while still be located in a major city. It was a great change of pace to know that you could get away to a private swimming pool with a beach-like atmophere without having to leave the city. I want to thank the staff for all of its hospitality. The Galaxy Hotel will definately be my first choice the next time I visit Crete!

Amazing customer service!!

We have just returned from a 2 week vacation to Greece, and our 3 days in Crete was the highlight of our vacation! The Galaxy Hotel is located in Heraklion, just a short walk from the shopping, restaurants and museum in the cute little port city! The hotel has a beautiful pool in the center courtyard, and the patio dining area overlooking the pool is terrific! The breakfast (included) was an amazing buffet, and we actually ate dinner (twice) at the hotel restaurant because it was so good! The sister hotel, villas approximately 15 minutes outside of Heraklion, is also very nice, and families might prefer the beach location of the Villas. But for our purposes, we wanted to be within walking distance of downtown Heraklion! The owners of the Galaxy went out of their way to arrange any tours, golf, sightseeing, etc that we wanted! The golf at the Crete Golf Course (20 minutes from the Galaxy Hotel) was unbelieveable; great views and crazy/fun to play! There is also an aquarium near the golf course, and loads of beach activites. For a 1 week vacation in Crete, I would highly recommend staying at The Galaxy Hotel for 3 nights and the Villas (at the beach) for 4 nights!!!

Room was adequate and but clean and breakfast good. The staff/service was friendly and helpful, with exception of one woman at front desk who balked at us requesting an iron at 10 p.m. When we requested a taxi via the hotel, the rates were exactly what we expected to pay. There was a large courtyard pool, and nearby restaurants.

I would suggest requesting a room with a pool view (we stayed on fifth floor) and booking any tours in advance. We tried to book a tour the night before and tours were sold out. Nevertheless, the island is small and so we got to all the destinations we wanted to via walking or by taxi.

Perfect place for city stay

A very good city hotel sited on one of the roads leading from the center of the city northwards in the direction of famous Knossos. Despite traffic outside (we had a room looking on the road) no noise in the room due to good noise protection. No pleasant walking around, to find suitable place for a walk you will need to go behind the walls of city center, which is abt 15 minutes of walk. Once you are inside the hotel everything is perfect. The staff is upscale professional. The rooms are clean and well equipped with modern facilities. Nice lobbies. The restaurtant offers good food and service. And, of course, the perfect pool within the inside area of the hotel.
If you plan sightseeing or business trip a perfect place to stay.

Top Local Tips for Crete

Galaxy restaurant & Lounge bar I went to many bars and restaurants in Heraklion but I don't think you will find any place better tha Galaxy's restaurant and lounge bar

Anogia and your experience in greece. Learn some Greek! Even just "Thank you" or "Hello" or even better "please"...... It doesn't matter if you sound awful, it warms their hearts that you try and they are touched by the effort. Greeks are generous, hospitable and proud. Showing a little interest, goes a long way, you soon find yourself sitting with them as they offer you free food, drink and stories. We recommend going to a small mountain village about 1hour and half bus ride from Heraklio called Anogia. It's a gem.

Main square dining After walking around looking for somewhere to eat and trying to ignore the "front of house" guys telling us that their food was the best we found that if you eat on or just off the main (Eleftherias Square) square the food is a couple of euros less and just as good quality and better service.
