Having stayed at the Caldera Bay in Platanias in 2003 and 2005. I've been in Platanias ten times since early 9ties, and Caldera Bay is the best apt/hotel I ever stayed. The apartments were perfect with air conditioning. The location in centre of Platanias is perfect when travelling with children. The swimming pools were also very good, specially the one at the lower area. The staffs at Caldera Bay are ever so friendly and helpful - like all Cretans! The little mini market was so handy. Unfortunately I have one complain; it is difficult to grab a sun longer because some greedy gests are leaving their towels on the sun lounges early in the morning and perhaps not turning up before lunchtime. There was an improvement when the staff did a prohibiting sign in 2005 and removes the towels. Still, I warmly recommend Caldera Bay and I'll be back in June 2006! Finally a great thank to the lady in the receptions for very good service.
