Hotel Alexander Beach is a lovely hotel located on the beach road between the lively village of Stalis and the bustling nightlife centre of Malia. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens and has an excellent pool area which leads directly onto the beach. Rooms within the hotel are cleam tidy and comfortable and all rooms have a balcony or terrace. Hotel food is also of a good standard though the local tavernas offer a wider variety of genuine and more delicious greek dishes. The only downside to this hotel for British holiday makers is that hotel guests are mainly german and therefore much of the hotel entertainment is primarily in german before being translated.

Top Local Tips for Crete
Get a Car, not a quad bike! I recommend hiring a car - it gets very hot and you can cool off in the car! Also, the strip is over a mile long - hard going in 35 - 40 degrees of heat - better off driving. Quad bikes are dangerous - saw three people come off them and get really hurt during our two week stay.
SANTORINI If you get the chance and money is no object then do the trip to Santorini, although it was expensive, we really enjoyed it, it was very beautiful with breathtaking views and it is well worth the 2 and a half hour trip on the ferry.
