Top tips! Miscellaneaous tips: We stayed in Ag Nik (western Crete) Not spoilt by the 18-30 Club scene and cosmopolitan. We did several excursions (do shop around for value) 1) Fit in a trip over to Santorini- we missed out on this one, much to our regret due to the shortish length of our stay. 2) Do a 'jeep safari' - ours was with www.safariclub.gr -hours of fun in the mountains/ excellent cameraderie/ commentary from our guides! 3) Restaurants: 'Le Strada' in Ag Nik, 'Kri Kri', which is on the way into Ag Nik 3) Visit the former leper colony on Spinalonga Island 4) Fit in a 'Cretan Night' (yes, we thought we would do 'naff') However, make sure it is the one based in the village of Anopolis (northern Crete) Very organised and they were good- they apparently opened the Rome Olympics- well worth the coach ride! We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday- 7 days was simply not enough! If you can, do a 10 day holiday- that way, you can fit in visits to most of the island.
