Top Local Tips for Crete

Best beach Furthest beach from hotel best. Turn right out of hotel go past bufos turn into 'quiet place' beach then walk along coast path about 10 min walk but well worth it

Why Sissi? I have been to other Greek islands before and to other parts of Crete, but Sissi was totally different. It is so relaxing and unspoilt. There were not hundreds of drunk teenagers everywhere for a start! The locals are so friendly. It is a case of "take us as you find us", so there are half-finished buildings dotted around and some scruffy areas, but the bay area is so pretty and swimming in the bay was so relaxing. There are plenty of bars and tavernas, and tourist shops but they are so laid back. You can hire a quad-bike and explore the nearby villages or take a bus or taxi to the wonderful Agios Nikolas and have a great day's shopping. We will definitely go again next year.

The Gorge walk! Take proper walking shoes and expect a 20 hour day with the transfer time . . oh . . and expect to be very very very stiff for the next three days! If you plan any site seeing - hire a car!
