The hill to the hotel isn't as bad as everyone makes out, it is a 5 min walk at most. The coach takes you to the top so you'll never have to carry luggage up it, its just a little steep and in the heat it can be a little hard work, no problems for any one we met though. May be difficult for aged or anyone with a disability, young children wouldn't have a problem. In the hotel they would only change Sheets twice a week, not great when you're sweating all night. We asked for more but they weren't happy about it. The whole hotel is well maintained, modern and clean. THe reception and pool areas are immaculate. Pool - serves food and drinks from noon to midnight but expensive 4 euros beer, 2.5 euros coffee, 4 euros burger Room very basic, two single beds, a dresser, wardrobe and 14" tv. Bathroom was very smelly, we purchased some bleech and tipped a whole bottle down the various drains, seemed to do the trick. lockbox 2 euro a night, air con 4 euro a night. Lockbox probably not needed but we paid for it due to exensive electronics and cash left in room. Air con is excellent and worth the money - you need to budget to include this. Breakfast is included but is very continental, we purchased our own butter and jams so we could use the free bread to make toast. again the milk provided is dreadful and purchasing your own milk for cereals is a good idea. Take them down with you and then store them in the frridge in your room. Local shops - 0.5 euro large water, 0.5 euro can of beer - keep some in you room fridge and take these to pool, they dont seem to mind and it will save you a fortune. Restaurants - around 6 euro for light snack, 12 euro for full meal. The further a field you go the cheaper everything gets (5 euro a meal, 1.5 euro a beer) - walk right to the end of beech, past Temple Bar and keep going, you enter the back streets where the cheap appartments are and everything gets cheaper - there are small bars and restaurants here worth trying. Internet - one cafe has free WiFi although slow and doesn't always work, Internet computers are everywhere inc hotel but are 1 euro for 10 mins. WiFi signal in Hotel Jason reception but they wont give the key out - use "mynetwork" when asked for WiFi key and this will work (just don't tell them). Lights and plug sockets in your room will turn off when you take the key out of the holster in the room - a little tip is to remove the key from the fob, leave the fob in the holster and take the key out with you, that way the room stays cool whilst you are out (air con stays on) and anything you have plugged in will charge whilst you are out. Just remember to put the "do not disturb" sign on the door when you go out so no one pops in to clean and finds out! There are no self catering facilities in the hotel, although there is a small fridge in your room, you can't buy a premade snack anywhere (sandwich, sauasge roll etc). Making your own food isn't really feasible as bread is 2.5 euro a loaf, and cheese and meats etc are around the 4 euro mark.... not really worth it and there's no space to do it in the hotel room. On the beech chairs/loungers are available and seem free, however a man will pop up each day and ask for 3 euro for each chair. Consider buying an inflatable one you can lie on instead. Every store stocks the same knock off sunglasses, loungers, beech towels etc. Prices range between shops, for example the same range of sunglasses ranged from 5 euro to 10 euro depending upon the store. You can hire a boat for around 20 euro per hour although you can negotiate and get this cheaper. Its a great way to explore and you can take the boat all the way to Corfu town if you like. There are small islands which offer some privacy on the way. Well worth stopping on these for some peace and quiet. There is a coach to Corfu town which is just 1.4 euro per person each way. Beware you can wait up to half an hour after the scheduled time for the coach to arrve. The main bus station is a little confusing, remember the number of the coach you need to head home and keep an eye out for it. We booked for 14 nights as it only seemed fractionally more expensive than the 7 night package (£150 more). We are a young couple who ate out everynight but didn't go clubbing and spent 1200 euros in two weeks (excluding flights and accomodation) In total we spent £2k. Although the holiday was great it may be better to explore all inclusive deals elsewhere, you could visit a wider range of countries for the £1k per head you are likely to spend.. You can easily spend more if you go for the excursions available. We went for the Greek night which included a coach trip, 3 course meal and a live Greek performance of dancing and music which was 44 euro per person.

Ipsos and the Jason Hotel

Just came back from a week in Ipsos. Had lost our original holiday to Sidari due to Excel Airways crash but managed to get in at the Jason Hotel in Ipsos. Read reviews before going. Now I'm not a fan of hotels, much prefering self catering apartments, but the hotel itself was nice enough. Breakfast wasn't great, I'm not a fussy eater but took my own milk as they use a form of evaporated milk which was too sickly and some museli and it was better (has the slowest toaster in the world there!). The rooms were nice enough and cleaned almost daily and the staff friendly and helpful, but on our last day there wasnt even a shower room for us to use and we had a wash in the sink in the toilets downstairs. We overheard a couple arguing with reception as they had paid for an extra day at the time of booking to allow them longer in the room and reception were unaware of it, even though the couple had a receipt for it. I'm not sure of the outcome. Ipsos itself has one main strip and for us personally, it just wasnt enough. It was like groundhog day going up and down the road daily! Hired a moped and went up to Sidari and was gutted that we lost our original holiday as the resort was bigger and better and the beach sandy but as were so out of pocket already, but we couldnt afford to stay a few days. On saying that we made some good friends and enjoyed some nice meals - Odyssey Restaurant - hi to Lana and her mom for the warm welcome and fabulous food, Als (I think as the spelling was a bit strange) at the end of the strip was lovely too and everyone at Tiffany's pub. But would we go back, extremely doubtful.

Great Two Weeks

We have just returned home from a great two weeks from staying at the Jason hotel. The hotel was very nice and so was the staff, the hill up to the hotel was a killer though but it did say it was in the brochure. The only complaint was the small room we were in for three of us but we got used to it. The pool was perfect as was the lovely bar man who kept the drinks flowing all the time. Jason was very nice too. We had lovely meals when we walked down to the sea front, Tiffiny’s, Queen Victoria who was English, Dirty Nellies was good too, plus a Greek restaurant which had Greek dancing on every Sunday evening. We hired a car for the day plus husband had a scooter for a couple of days, would definitely go again.

Ipsos was the best holiday I have ever been on the hotel was the best around the staff all friendly. The rooms are cleaned daily. The pool bar is open everyday from 1030 till small hours of the morning. I had that much of a good time staying at the Jason hotel I'm going back this year in July can’t wait !!!!!
