Great holiday

This was a great place to stay, very clean the rooms are a nice size. The food is excellent, great choice. We had a great time very relaxing. I would say the down side would be there's no where to go at night. There's just a couple of shops and some of the entertainment in the evening is ok, more for the children. Overall, we had a great time. The beach is lovely.

We have just returned from the Blue Bay Escape, St Spyridon, Corfu, (June 20th-28th, 2008) and I can only say what a great holiday we had. The Hotel is clean & spacious. The food is good and plentiful. The pool is quite big and overlooks the sea with great views across the Med of the Albanian coast. If I was to be picky the only negatives I could come up with is the mosquito's at night (there are lots so you will get bitten) and the cats (there is a small group of our furry friends living on the resort, but seem to cause no problems) The staff are friendly enough with plenty of silly games through out the day (darts, water gym, water polo, volley ball, football) There are only a couple of local bars within walking distance, so the area is fairly quiet but the hotel has basic (and I mean basic) entertainment in the hotel nightly, but hey it was not too bad.
A good overall family holiday

We booked this 3 wks before we were due to go and looked at lots of mixed reviews on the net after we had booked. We are a family of four with two children of 9 and 5 and it suited us perfectly. We booked a family suite so the kids had couch beds in the living area and my husband and I had the bedroom. There was lots of room and the apartment was clean, tidy and modern.
The situation was perfect as there are two lovely sandy beaches within 3 mins walking and the pool was large enough for everyone to use too. Infact we spent most of the day by the pool because when the kids were hungry or thirsty they could go to the bar and order a drink, ice cream or snack which was great. The buffet style meals were great - not a la carte but a very good choice for everyone - lots of salads, hot food and chip/nugget style food for kids too. We went with First Choice and so there was a holiday club where the children could see by looking at the list what was going on and decide if they wanted to join in. My son also did a two morning football course (extra but only about £30) which he really enjoyed and the First Choice kids reps were really friendly and two evenings they run a video evening for a few hours so we could go and eat on our own.
We had read reviews of bad mossies and wasps but I didn't see any wasps but it could be the time of year. There were mossies but no worse than any other holiday and lets face it you get mossies if you go to Scotland! We just made sure that we sprayed ourselves in the evenings before we went out.
People might feel that it is a bit out of the way as the nearest town is a 5 mins drive but as it was an all inclusive we felt happy just to stay within the resort and went to the town one morning.
This isn't a place for a romantic week away with your partner - this a family friendly, ticks all the boxes to keep the kids happy and therefore the adults too. I would definitely consider going back for a relaxed family holiday again here. My only downside was that some of the other Brits were I felt v rude towards some of the greek staff, demanding drinks etc and not being polite towards them.

Great staff, great food, lovely situation

My husband and I have just returned from blue bay and had a fantastic time, the rooms were so large with lots of room to spread about. The staff were so lovely and friendly and the hotel was spotless. The entertainment team were great, not the most professional lot but so friendly and put everything in to what they did. Food was very good for an all inclusive and it certainly showed on my waistline when I got home. We hope to go back sometime and will take a flyswatter for the wasps which was the only bugbear but would not put us off going again.
Family holiday - superb choice

We stayed here for two weeks. Whilst I am 54, my sons are aged 21, 16 and 14. A super holiday, the hotel staff worked so hard and in a genuine manner, they could not do enough to ensure we had a glorious holiday my sons are active and physically very able boys, they loved the activities in the day. Weather so hot too each day. The rooms were big and well air-conditioned, very comfortable. Nice beach just across the road. Evening entertainments were fine for the boys but not the same for the adults. I have to say that was not important, as everything else about the place was excellent. Food was very good great choice and plenty of it. The restaurant was quiet and polite with good insistence on standards of dress i.e. long trousers for the men.. Call me old fashioned but I like that.2 years ago we went to Turkey all-inclusive with First Choice and I slighted it on our return awful place, restaurant that resembled a canteen and unpleasant staff .. THIS was nothing like that and I would recommend any families thinking of going to blue bay to go, its quiet, yes, but that's what we wanted with plenty for the kids to do. Corfu is a lovely island with real Corfu island, the north, see it whilst your kids fool around safely in the hotel area. Mr and Mrs Chris Goodman and boys.

We are a family of 5 with 3 young children (8,5 & 3). I was not looking forward to the holiday as other family holidays had not been ideal and I'd read reviews about the wasps and unfriendly staff......how wrong was I!!!!!
The hotel was great, the staff were fantastic and very friendly, they loved kids and for once, the staff seemed to look as if they did genuinely enjoy working there. The entertainment team were really good and they worked really hard while we were there. they weren't too over the top either. The kids really loved going to the kids club now and again, even my 8 yr old who sometimes thinks he's a bit too old for such things. The wasps were normal, not as annoying as back home! The mosquitoes didn't bother us as we took mosquito spray and we only used it in the evening - we had no bites - use a spray with deet!! The food was lovely, always a variety of things and the kids loved the food, especially the desserts. The weather was hot but the breeze was lovely so it never felt too hot. There is a small track used by few cars as you come out of the hotel, you can turn either way to go to a beach, our favourite beach was on the left - great for kids and always sunbeds available. There's loads of shops selling pool stuff which isn't too expensive. My only gripes are trivial - the towels, although clean, did have a strange smell which I didn't like!! people putting their towels on the sunbeds at the crack of dawn and then not using them till after lunch!!!! (same everywhere i suppose). We would definitely go back again.

Hello, I'm a young fussy girl. I went to this hotel in 2005 and 2004 for a surprise birthday treat and I am going again this year. I know it will be even better. The service is great, I have very good memories from this amazing experience. Me, my brother and my mum and step-dad all enjoy it. We go all inclusive it is so brilliant. I'm sure there will be many great memories ahead. The best memory was the wedding there. We had the best treatment to go down by the pool to see the bride and groom. When the lovely couple walked back to the mail lobby, we made an arch. I hope there having a good relaxing life together and forever will do. The staff there is so good. We met a man called George who worked in the main lobby. Anthony was so good the Christmas after we received a Christmas card I can't wait to come back in July on the 13th. One more thing to mention is the service and the rooms and the food. Service: it was very good it was like you was some celebrity. Rooms: they were so homey. I felt at home with a nice welcome give it kicked of the now holiday. It was kept clean and tidy and smelled lovely every single day. Food: it was cook to perfection. When I went in 2004 for my 9th birthday surprise, they ordered in a chef to make me a birthday cake. They served it with sparkler and it had my name and age on it. It tasted delicious
Another thing the list goes on don't it. hehe. Along the path there are rocks when I herd a noise for the first time walking past I wondered what the sound was so went up to it, it was playing music. It was so delightful.

Great service and accommodation

We travelled to the Blue Bay Escape Resort on a last minute deal and as we hadn't been to Corfu before were not sure what to expect. I have to say we were extremely pleased with our experience at the Blue Bay, although the entertainment wasn't that good.

We travelled to the Blue Bay Escape Resort on a last minute deal and as we hadn't been to Corfu before were not sure what to expect. I have to say we were extremely with our experience at the Blue Bay. We had two of the best reps I have ever met, two brothers called Dan and Andy. Nothing was too much trouble for them and you really felt that they looked after you! They kept you informed of everything that was happening in resort and we received a courtesy call every other day to make sure we were ok. The staff at the Blue Bay on the whole were friendly enough except for one barman who we nicknamed 'smiler' because he didn't!!!. We found that making the effort to greet and speak in Greek (to a fashion) made all the difference to the service and how friendly they were toward you. The food was quite nice although a little repetitive but as mentioned in other peoples reviews you were never hungry. Mosquitoes are a big problem and I would suggest investing in a good quality repellant along with a tolerance to wasps in the day time. I would say that we have met more new friends on this holiday than we ever have before and this mainly is due to the fact that the entertainment was quite poor. Kids Disco followed by Bingo then either music was played or a piano man played. The resort itself if quite isolated so if you are looking for a clubbing holiday this is definately not the one for you! The courtesy bus is a godsend and we used it twice to the neighbouring resorts just for a change. On the whole we had a superb time at the Blue Bay and possibly would go back again earlier in the season.

Top Local Tips for Corfu
The dreaded mozzies The only thing that put a small blight on the holiday were the mozzies - we tried everything from sprays to candles but my wife still got eaten to death - now we found out the best way to deal with them is to take garlic capsules for about 6 months before going and this keeps the mozzies away
Mosquitoes We were recommended a spray frpom AVON cosmetics of all places and it worked a treat. Neither my girlfriedn or I had more than one bite and this is in a place everybody ahd warned us about the abundance of mosquitoes. It was a dry oil spray in a blue bottle for soft skin but worked a treat as anti bite spray. Although it did smell like baby oil.....
Nearby beaches Get away from the two beaches near to the hotel complex. The beach immediately infornt of the hotel is small and not great, The sandy beach to the left of the complex is crowded and two chairs & parasol will cost you 9 euro's per day. Take a walk through the nature reserve and explore some beatiful beaches - see notes in my review for directions. There is a nudist beach approx 2000m into the nature reserve - follow the stoney road and keep bearing left. Fabulous beach if you are 'open minded' by make sure you don't get your backside burnt !
