Definatley worth a visit

Wow what a fantastic place, great location, fantastic grounds and accommodation, the nicest staff both Greek and British - the reps this time were fantastic, lynette definitely made our little boys holiday, will definitely be back for summer 2006 so I hope to see everyone again.

We went the first year the Hotel was opened. The staff, accommodation and overall quality are all very good. The swimming pool did get a little overcrowded but the real downsides are the very poor night time entertainment at the Hotel and the distance to the nearest town is 6KM. Taxis late at night could not be relied upon leaving you in the hands sometimes very poor Hotel evening entertainment.

My husband and I took our children to the blue bay in Aug 2005 we had a fab time the kids loved it so did we, I've never ha such a relaxed holiday. Would I go again? I sure would.

Fantastic Family resort

Having seen some very critical reports, I was unsure of what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised!! This is a family resort and is run with a family orientation. The service of the staff is impeccable, from luggage being taken to the rooms on arrival to service at bars and in the restaurants. Rooms cleaned daily, linen changed regularly, although beds were a little hard and pillows a little flat. Food is well cooked, varied and plenty of choice for everyone. Breakfast and evening meals served in main restaurant whilst lunch served by pool, wasps were around a lot, but they are not so intrusive as some have complained about, as I read in someone report, they were their first, very few people were stung. Take mosquito repellent, as they do bite. The staff are very helpful and pleasant, the weather was changeable whilst we were there and the kids club was fantastic, my 3 ½ year old loved it. It is set in the picturesque mountains in a quite area, with not much around locally, hire a car to explore if that's what takes your fancy. The sea is clean and is not deep so children are safe in the water. The pool is clean but was extremely cold. Definitely a family resort, I would recommend it and would go again, but probably in September as weather changes in October. Fantastic!!

An excellent family holiday! Excellent cuisine and accommodation in a beautifully unspoilt area of Corfu. Thoroughly recommended to young families wanting a relaxing holiday, escaping from the busy popular resorts. Hire a car if you want to explore!

Blue Bay escape resort

Just returned from 1 week stay all inclusive. the hotel was very clean with maids everyday, the drinks was served in plastic children's cups with only a mouth full of beer to enjoy (if you like water)as most of this was froth. Nightly entertainment was very poor. Meals were lovely if you like sharing with wasps. They have a big wasp problem here as the food was outside as soon as you sit down to eat you get about 100 wasps sharing your meal. also by the pool sunbathing you can not relax because there is wasps everywhere I have been to a few hotels and never seen anything like it in my life, people was getting stung all the time, they really have a big wasp problem that need sorting out as it has put me off going back here. I took 3 kids with me aged 14,11,and 5 they liked it because of the big pool but that is all there is for kids to do here. The hotel it self is beautiful with big rooms and good views, we hired a car as there was nothing around this hotel to do. I would go again but not with children and only if they get the wasp problem sorted out as this ruined my stay. all in all in would rate this hotel a 3 star and not a 4 as advertised.

Been to the Blue Bay for the first time this May (2005). Both my husband and I loved it and so did our children. We loved it that much that we booked for next year the day we after we got home.

I had to write this review on return from the Blue Bay Escape Resort as I had been really dreading going after reading bad reviews on the net. We went at the end of May. Weather was beautiful with only one mornings rain.
Ourselves and our 3 and 5 year olds had the best time and would go back tomorrow. I have to question why anyone would want to go to a family orientated complex who doesn't have kids, I know I wouldn't have 5 years ago. It is noisy, with loads of kids running about and as far as I'm concerned thats exactly what a place like that should be. All staff are excellent and do their best to look after you. Yes there are insects but they were there before us and are not a problem in the eating/living areas. Whack some repellent on and don't get bitten is my advice. The food was excellent with loads of choice and in abundance.
I'm vegetarian and put half a stone on! If I had to be picky our beds in the apartments were a bit hard and another pillow might have been nice but made every day by a very hard working maid and the apartments were immaculate.
The complex is well kept and the kids loved the pool. Entertainment is what you decide to make of it at night, the kids seemed to be absorbed in whatever was going on so we relaxed and had a few drinks. And thats another thing - we never had to wait more than 5 min to be served and in most cases straight away (4 per customer).
All in all, if you have kids under 12, don't mind being in butlins in corfu and are on holiday to enjoy yourselves not nit pick then go!

I stayed at this resort just after it opened. Everywhere was spotless as you might expect. In fact, the patio window was so clean my father in law tried to walk trough it when it was closed!The staff like most grecians were helpful and friendly. Unfortunatly the same cannot be said of the owners. One of whom seemed to think he was a rockstar. The food was O.K. if a little bland. The service at the bar although friendly was suspiciously slow as if they didn't want to give you the 'free' drinks you paid for when going all inclusive. The choice of drinks was so limited, when I asked for a whisky the 'rockstar' nearly choked on his.On the whole the resort is well put together and certainly well positioned for a relaxing break. The pool area is beautiful, as is the surrounding countryside. There is a nature reserve on the doorstep, which seems to be mainly reserving snakes and mosquitoes(bring the cream) but I have a feeling it WILL get better.

Top Local Tips for Corfu

The dreaded mozzies The only thing that put a small blight on the holiday were the mozzies - we tried everything from sprays to candles but my wife still got eaten to death - now we found out the best way to deal with them is to take garlic capsules for about 6 months before going and this keeps the mozzies away

Mosquitoes We were recommended a spray frpom AVON cosmetics of all places and it worked a treat. Neither my girlfriedn or I had more than one bite and this is in a place everybody ahd warned us about the abundance of mosquitoes. It was a dry oil spray in a blue bottle for soft skin but worked a treat as anti bite spray. Although it did smell like baby oil.....

Nearby beaches Get away from the two beaches near to the hotel complex. The beach immediately infornt of the hotel is small and not great, The sandy beach to the left of the complex is crowded and two chairs & parasol will cost you 9 euro's per day. Take a walk through the nature reserve and explore some beatiful beaches - see notes in my review for directions. There is a nudist beach approx 2000m into the nature reserve - follow the stoney road and keep bearing left. Fabulous beach if you are 'open minded' by make sure you don't get your backside burnt !
