Relaxing stress-free week

This is for those of you who having booked the Ermones Beach Hotel have now read the dire reviews. That's what we did! and it created a heap of unnecessary anxiety. We went all inclusive myself husband 3 children aged 11, 13 & 16. The accommodation is functional and clean centre-parcs standard. The pool is superb! Deep large clean with a cordoned off toddler's area. The views from the pool area are lovely with a refreshing breeze. Plenty of sun-loungers and shady trees to read or relax under or to escape the sun if you so wish. The food was good and enough variety to accommodate the faddy i.e. chips all week if you wish, lots of salad and veg with all types of meat dishes. The drinks as part of the deal were coke /fanta not cheap substitutes and the cocktail measures in the inclusive deal were very generous!! We had a lovely week not a hint of a tummy bug! There were no mossies but lots of wasps but they were only after food not our blood. we would go again.

Ermones Beach Hotel

I spent a week in Ermones beach hotel during Witson week. I went with my daughter (8) and boyfriend (28). I booked the holiday back in April and only afterwards did we start reading the reviews. We were terrified. What on earth had I done???!!!! From the bad food, to the bad smells to the bees, we were really anxious about it. So we started to take the micky and decided that we would make the best of it!!! And we did. The accommodation: It was clean and safe (we found). We didn't have a problem because we were right at the top over the pool but some people had their rooms right on the coast and had to use the lift. The lift itself is safe and comes when you call it but however, if you are impatient the steep stairs will surely improve your calves muscles and thighs. TIP: when arriving at the hotel, ask nicely to be put as high as possible. The rooms did smell of damp and sewage but only once 3/4 of you have had a shower. There's this sort of whole thing in the bathroom floor and that is where the smell comes form. However, you do have a safe, air con, fridge and TV in your room.

FOOD: the food was varied I found and quite tasty. People complain about breakfast a lot on these reviews but it seems to me that they seem to forget that hotels put on these spreads to keep the Brits happy. Of course it doesn't taste like at home. It's not from home!!!!! And as for tea and coffee and cake - 4get it! Dried sandwich and biscuits that you will be given if you as behind the bar.
ENTERTAINMENT: the kids club is absolute rubbish!!!!!! The girls only want to dance and pull weird faces as they do so. Entertainment people will only talk to you when they feel like it and shows are so homemade! Can't even describe it as amateur! Do go and have a meal on the restaurant above the polluted and sewaged sea where poo is seen inside the water!!!! However, the view from that Greek restaurant is amazing and the food a delicacy.
TO DO: in the hotel you can rent a car for just 35 euro a day. Do take advantage of that and spend a day in beautiful Corfu with the great shopping markets and scenery.
Do go to Glyfada, one of the most gorgeous beaches I've ever seen. Caution the water is quite cold due to natural sources coming straight out of it.
You may also want to go to aqua land and it's cheap.

It wasn't that bad at all and we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. We made friends with lots of people and felt really sad to leave the place....
THE BIRDS: they love birds!!!!!! So the birds live on the roof of the main bar and fly constantly over your head!!!! Yes, you got it, you get pood on constantly and I would not eat under there. You will see what I mean when you get there.

I came to Ermones for the first time last September and had the time of my life. The location is fantastic, it offers breath-taking ocean views as it is situated on the side of a mountain and the service was great. The food was authentic and so delicious that I put on a few pounds in the ten days I was there!! Highly recommended!!

When we arrived at the hotel we where already expecting the worst as we had been told about the reviews, but after a few days of walking the big hill in the morning to get to breakfast it wasn't so bad. Ermones is set in a very scenic place and is remote for those who want a relaxing holiday. There were quite a few wasps around but that is no fault of the hotel, the food was nice but became a bit predictable by the end of the week. The staff are very friendly and there are always staff around to entertain the children. If you are looking for a cheap get away then yes I would say give it a go.

Could there be anything worse?

Rooms and facilities are old and worn out.
Food and drinks tasted bad and were presumably dangerous too. Four out of six got infected with salmonella. The doctors and the management just kept on refusing to tell the truth, although many people fell sick. We were lucky enough to escape that place (my wife and daughter with nappies on). They had to stay in an Austrian hospital for 10 more days to recover from their holidays.

This hotel is NOT a 4 star!

This hotel is certainly not a 4 star and I can't imagine how it was possibly given this grading. At least they didn't have the cheek to put a 4 star on the front of the hotel! Our rep arrogantly stated that this was a Greek 4 star-I have been to many Greek hotels and have never had one this bad before. The decor was worn and very shoddy in places. Do not be fooled that you will be staying in the "hotel". The hotel comprises of 22 rooms-the rest, yes youv'e guessed it, are chalets half way down the mountain. DO NOT choose this hotel if you are unfit. We had to walk over 150 steps just to get to breakfast which certainly gives you an appetite! Some unlucky souls were further down the hill (we were less than halfway). The majority of people visiting this hotel were the elderly and I had great sympathy for them. They had to wait for a lift which often took a long while to get to its destination, and the paths were uneven and poorly lit at night. Many people had broken bones at our hotel too..

On the plus side, the food was actually very good and they even cater for veggies which is quite rare abroad. The hotel staff were very friendly too.

On the absolute negative side, the loos within the hotel were filthy (akin to a nightclub toilet at the end of a very long night) and our chalet was completely damp-the smell was sometimes unbearable depending on whether it had rained during the night. This was due to the fact that our roof (and everybody elses) was made largely of grass...

We were also lead to believe that there was a snack bar on the beach-this is not so. Instead, there was cake (left all day) with one drink dispenser. If you wanted food at lunchtime, and I'm guessing you would, you would then have to take the lift back up to the hotel. This is not as described (and there is even a picture on the Ermones website with people eating, plates and everything at this snack bar!). I couldn't even find a paper plate!

Our piece de resistance (I am joking here) was our bathroom. I have taken pictures, and if I can attach them I will. We had unfinished tiles on the wall, a grubby shower curtain (very 4 star!) and a shelf which was almost falling off the wall. We even had snails in our bathroom due to the damp. Luckily, we didn't have overflowing drains within our bathroom which I know many other people had to endure.

So, if you do visit Ermones, make sure it's a cheap deal otherwise you will be disappointed.

We had the best time ever even though for the first 3 days we had tropical storms we had such a good time, our room was very clean and the maids were lovely. This place isn't for the disabled but they do have rooms available for special need i.e.; bad back elderly, the cable car is very good and it always worked just remember to close the front gate or it wont work, the beach is very stony but the view is amazing take the pedalo out to the other beach around the cove you wont be disappointed. Whilst we were there was a few accidents of people falling but that was not the hotels fault some people don't know when to stop just because its an all inclusive doesn't mean you have to drink yourself silly, the staff reacted very quickly and professionally all the staff work very hard and to the entertainment staff there was always someone around looking after children and they loved it the food is very nice but predictable by the end of the week but I was lovely food enough to have something different every day. Cofru town is only 25 minutes on the bus and it picks you up from outside the hotel reception it is a lovely place, I would take my children too ,there are two good size swimming pools 1 inside and a good sized gym if we needed anything they were always glad to help we will defiantly go there again next year.

Tears Of Disappointment At First!

A rather generous rating of 5 given but felt that after the initial (2 day) shock and disbelief of condition of 'bungalow' cough cough, 'bunka' style accommodation.. myself and my daughter decided to just make the most of what we had! I must say.. all the brits we spoke with felt as disappointed and therefore, in true brit style, this brought everyone together and we shared a lot of laughs.Rooms need serious attention, the set-up is totally ridiculious especially with the rickety, rusty and unreliable tram often forcing guests to walk on uneven, unlit and unsafe terrain.... so please bear this in mind before indulging in the all inclusive package! Believe you me, it is sooooo easy to drown your sorrows but, for two seperate guests during our 7 day stay,it played a part in them being ferried to hospital by ambulance and surgery. ON A POSITVE NOTE... the food was good, but became very predictable towards the end of the week. Myself and my daughter found the bar and restaurant staff ok.. but the gold star has to go to young John! I will not be returning to this hotel.. or indeed Greece... sorry but thats the true impact.

Greece is always basic but beautiful with good food. This place was shabby, dirty, wasp ridden and the food was the worst I have come across on any holiday. The beach was also dirty, so it cost a fortune in food and travel. We left the hotel every day, but as it is quite remote we had to get the local bus when you could get on it, as it was always full of Ermones Residents, or a costly taxi. I would like to add I have never written a review before, let alone complained daily while on holiday.

Rude, grumpy arrogant staff. Receptionist who proffered to hang up on you rather than speak to you. So don't even bother complaining about anything. The location was quiet, very scenic. If it were not for the hot weather then I'm sure the holiday would have been unbearable.
The hotel is not a 4*, at a push then it would be a 2* so don't expect luxury. And a warning to everyone staying there, lock all valuables up in a safe because allot has been stolen with no signs of breaking and entering. Management are doing a good job of keeping it quiet!

Top Local Tips for Corfu

Aqualand Has got to be visited! One of the 3rd largest water parks in Europe! Granted it was the start of the season and the volume of people visiting was greatly reduced which made it a great day with no waiting time for rides. Top Tip - Make sure suncream is regularly applied!

crap stay home

Shop shop shop Always shop around when in resort for the best deals. DONT book your hire in England, its cheaper to do it in corfu. The roads are generally ok and pull over to let the locals past if needs be.
