Well me and my auntie who decided to book a late deal, me being 17 and her 22, really enjoyed our holiday there and said we would go back again although if i did it would be around the same time again. I had read some reviews before going on this holiday, and after seeing them was quite worried about going, but was suprised it werent all that bad. We got there in the early hours of the morning and it wasnt too bad except because we came with another family the man thought we was with them n sent us to their rooms, but then he pointed us in the right direction. We both only wanted a relaxing holiday aslong as we had sun we was happy. It is a quite steep place and in the heat of the day it can be hard walking up the hill, i can imagine in the main season the cable car can get abit busy as it started to as the week ended. The hotel staff were really friendly, even if some seemed moody, they werent if you spoke to them they were chatty and eventually smiled. The entertainment team were excellent and were always smiley and friendly. Quite alot to do there. Some bad points are the beach as it isn't all sandy but still nice just to go down there to sunbathe and the fact that ermones is a quiet place with not much round there but can get a bus from the hotel. Also on the otherside from the hotel is another hotel and there are some tavernas over there and bars. A great week it was as we met some people and just had a laugh, we really enjoyed it.

THE BAD REVIEWS ARE UNJUSTIFIED!!!
Myself and girlfriend booked a late deal to the Ermones Beach Hotel before reading any reviews. After reading some of the comments on this site, we became worried to say the least!
After arriving at the hotel we were very pleasantly surprised. Granted that the hotel is old (around 30 years old)and a bit remote but it is clean and the staff are extremely friendly and good at thier jobs. In reality, it is more like 3* than the advertised 4* but food was of a good standard and varied. The surrounding scenary is breathtaking. There is a local bus to Corfu town which stops at the hotel reception hourly. Any problems with the cable car (which is very safe) are usually down to people not shutting the safety gate properly which will cause the car to stop (as a safety feature). There is a full acitivity & entertainment programme throughout the day & night with one of the funniest entertainment hosts we have ever met in a guy caled Franco (who speaks 9 languages fluently, including accents).
Negative comments are not fair.
WHAT DO PEOPLE EXPECT FOR THE MONEY THEY ARE PAYING??

We were supposed to be in main building but because of a golfing group we ended up half way down the hill where we set up base camp. The room was basic but was cleaned daily with clean sheets and towels. The cable car was an adventure (when it was working). If you had to walk up the steps or the hill you would have to stop for a puff of oxygen from the cylinder attached to your survival pack! The food started off fairly good but went down hill throughout the week. The bar staff were pretty miserable but it was the last week of the season. The dreaded wasps around the pool and the pop machines in the bar were a nightmare very difficult to relax. The entertainment in the bar - embarrising to say the least. I am just glad we met other families from south wales and west midlands to make our own entertainment. No I will not be going there again and advise others to read all the reviews before thinking about going there.

Arrived early hours with my girlfriend,12 year old son 18 month daughter and 6 month son. It was dark and dirty. To get to our room we had to travel down a cliff on a very unsafe cable car. Rooms were very basic. Cable car was out of order more than it worked. Pool, restaurant, reception etc was on top of cliff, so cable car was easiest way up. Alternative way up was, very steep steps or up very steep hill. Obviously with 2 little children this was unacceptable. People got stuck in cable car when it broke down. One evening while leaving retaurant cable car wasnt working again,we started our descent down the road and my girlfriend slipped and fell with baby in pushchair. Reception no help, food awful. The pool was freezing wasps everywhere, entertainment rubbish. I could go on and on, Ibut i haven't the time. I recomend you stay away from this HELL HOLE !

My family and I stayed at this hotel in June 2005. We agree with all the comments we have read on this site. Some people refused to stay and immediately got back in the taxi to go to another hotel. We arrived when it was still dark and it looked old, dirty and in dire need of updating and renovation. We were completely misinformed and misled by the 4* rating. My daughter fell on the steps going on the half hour trek to the hotel from the room and ended up on crutches for 3 days. The rooms are on several floors, a long way from the hotel, with just one cable car to take all guests to the main building. If you stay on the bottom floor allow 20 minutes at meal times to either walk or wait for the cable car to empty. NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY PROBLEMS. However, the food was good and the entertainment was excellent for the children. BEWARE..we took part in the Achillion Diving Centre Course (attached to the Hotel) at substantial cost and despite Emailing the company several times we still have not received our certificates which we were told would be sent within 3 weeks of our holiday in June. (It is now 29/11/05). Would not recommend.

This hotel is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at.The people who are saying that they had a wonderfull time,or that people are not telling the truth, must have been staying at a different hotel or they are relatives to the owners or management. The place is Horrible and anyone who says anything else is demented.

My family & I were left traumatized by the whole event in this dirty smelly run down prison! You had to go to the top of a cliff to get to the actual hotel - the smell of sewage - cold food flies!! Yucky!! Never ever again- please be advised I read someone else's review but I thought I'd try it! Don't!!! Please be aware it's a holiday from hell – I'd rather go to prison for a week!

The Ermones hotel was probably built sometime in the sixties and has not been renovated since then. Run down and with a low standard. The all inclusive bar served only homemade liquor of the cheapest type. And the wine for dinner or what ever it was. Bathrooms were hardly working. Never enough hot water, and so on.
Too bad they just let it go down the drain.

The nearby golf course was similar. The only they ever did to it was to mowe the grass. Extremely bad maintenance.

This Hotel was horrendous! Definitely the worst we have ever stayed in. It resembled an army base and was badly in need of renovation. The choice of food was very poor with wasps and flies everywhere in the restaurant. We were given the impression that a cable car was available to go to the beach. It omitted to say you needed it to go anywhere in the Hotel - the pool, restaurant, bars, reception etc. Everybody we spoke to felt the same and were extremely disappointed. Overall, we were glad when our week came to an end - we couldn't wait to get out of the place!

Top Local Tips for Corfu

Aqualand Has got to be visited! One of the 3rd largest water parks in Europe! Granted it was the start of the season and the volume of people visiting was greatly reduced which made it a great day with no waiting time for rides. Top Tip - Make sure suncream is regularly applied!

crap stay home

Shop shop shop Always shop around when in resort for the best deals. DONT book your hire in England, its cheaper to do it in corfu. The roads are generally ok and pull over to let the locals past if needs be.
