Beautiful Setting, Great Staff, Free Airport Shuttle

We decided to stay at this hotel mainly because we had an early flight from the Athens airport the next morning and we wanted to stay some place closer to the airport. As it happens, the difference in distances between Vougliameni and downtown Athens to the airport isn't that great, but it's such a different atmosphere in Vougliagmeni -- relaxed, quiet, no traffic, beautiful beaches and nice restaurants within pleasant walking distance. The hotel also offers a complimentary airport shuttle (with advance notice), about a 40 minute ride (probably twice that much from downtown Athens) -- that in itself would have made it cost-effective. But in addition, the hotel staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly, and did everything to accommodate our slightly out-of-the-ordinary travel needs. The rooms were very nice and well maintained, and the setting is very beautiful. We had had a wonderful trip in Greece and were not looking forward to leaving, but the hotel staff did everything they could to make our departure easy and comfortable. I'd happily stay there again, particularly before leaving from the Athens airport.

taxis We were told on arrival at athens airport a taxi would cost 20-25 euros, we were charged 38 euros on the way back we budgeted for this amout the hotel arranged a taxi and it only cost us 25 euros, so beware of the taxi drivers negotiate if you can.

Taxis It is worth-while to learn at least a little Greek if only for cab rides. The Pimsleur set available through Barnes and Noble were helpful. At least one cab driver continued to speak to me in Greek thinking I knew a lot more than I did. Using even a few words beyond "Please" and "Thank you" was received with big smiles and better service!
