Historical Traveller Reviews of Parthenon Hotel
Excellent location
from A TripAdvisor MemberNice hotel, great staff
from RmartenLoved It!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberHotel staff was very courteous. Rooms were clean, not too big but then we didn't visit Athens to stay in a hotel :-)) An additional advantage was we had booked tours through Chat tours and they had a pickup from the hotel. On the last day, we had a flight at 8:40AM and had to leave around 6:30AM, breakfast begins at 7AM but still they allowed us have some coffee/tea and coincidently they had some breakfast setup so we had some before we left. The drive back to the airport was quick, we reached around 7AM so maybe we could have left a little later!!
We really enjoyed our stay at Parthenon. Highly recommended.

Good Hotel for Price
from deeva72The hotel staff were very friendly upon arrival and very helpful. The hotel itself kind of reminded us of a hospital ward but we didn't mind. The rooms were a decent size and clean. Soundproofing was good. Breakfast in the morning was the average continental style. Overall, what made this hotel better than average, had to be the friendliness of the staff and the location.
We were within 5 minutes walking range from viewing the Acropolis, 10 minutes walk to the Temple of Zeus and 20 minute walk from the downtown shopping core. There were many shops and restaurants close by this hotel which was very convenient.
Overall, we would recommend this hotel and would stay at it again.
Good hotel, great location
from forensicsgirlChecked-in without any problems. Staff was friendly and fluent in English. Room was clean. In the morning, there was a small issue with water pressure which would fluctuate from hot to cold. Breakfast was the standard European breakfast buffet.
Since our ferry to Crete left in the late evening, the hotel didn't have a problem with keeping our luggage after check-out. Luggage was kept in a small area in the lobby.
The hotel was located near the back entrance to the Acropolis along Dionisiou Aeropagitou. FYI - If you bring a large backpack, you'll have to enter through the main entrance. Also, if continue walking on Dionisiou Aeropagitou, you'll come to Apostolou Pavlou. Across the street is Filopapou Hill. After climbing to the top of Filopapou Hill, we took great shots of the Acropolis site. One of the hotel staff recommended Lycabettus Hill but we didn't have the time to check out his tip.
The walk from the hotel to Syntagma Square will take about 10-15 minutes along Amalias Road. No need for a cab. Then again, we did arrive late at night. And we were unfamiliar with the area at the time.
Good hotel with a great location.
Moisey from Israel
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe had very nice and quiet room in the place near the basic sights of Athens, like Acropol and Plaka; many attractions at evening; good transportation.
The hotel has the very thoughtful personnel.
What more is neccessary?
Great Hotel and Great Location

from geoffdiTop Local Tips for Athens
When to come Most people come to Athens in Summer. We visited December, 2006, just before Christmas. For some reason thsi is the low-low season in Athens and Greece in general. The weather was wonderful for sightseeing, highs in the 60's and there were absolutely no crowds at any of the sights. Not great beach weather, but who can complain when hotel prices are down and you have major tourist destinations practically to yourself. Frineds of ours went in July, and the temperature was in the 90's and very humid, and in their pic's there was nothings bu crowds. My advice, go in winter. Also, a general travelers rule of thumb, eat where the locals eat, not the tourist traps. Also, Greeks tend to over cook their meats, so if you don't like your steaks and chops very well done you better order something else like the Mousakas or Keftedes.
Changing of the Guard Don't rely on this happening at 11.00 Sunday. It was a good 10/15 minutes earlier when we were there and we saw lots of people arriving as it was finishing.
Taxi from airport Take a taxi, not a limo from the airport - cost is 30 Euros, very good value considering the distance.
