We really enjoyed the charm and intimacy of the hotel. We have traveled a lot and stayed in many different kinds of hotels but in this one we really felt like at home. Since the rooms are few we always got the attention of the staff, something that is usually hard to find in larger establishments. Also we appreciated the quietness of the room and it was a real pleasure having breakfast in bed while watching the Thisio area. It is a very elegant hotel; all the details were very well taken care of.

good old fashioned hoteliery - hospitality first!

from emigdal
We are a couple in our thirties, who came to spend a weekend in Athens with a clear wish to choose a pampering and comfortable hotel as one our top priorities for this weekend. Well, with the Ochre & Brown as our choice - we just hit the jack pot... Smack in the middle of the everything that is happening in Athens - 5-10 minutes walk from the antique promenade (including the Acropolis), central shopping high street, flee market, Plaka area, wonderful cafes and restaurants, two metro stations - which was great and very time saving. Plus, the hotel offers the most relaxing, easy, although very sophisticated atmosphere - and I personally beliive that is a very difficult combination to achieve. The rooms are impecably designed in the most updated modern, Feng-Shui oriented style, to create a very serene and inviting room (although quite small in size). The bathroom was also furnished impecably, and was sparkling clean. The cleanliness and order in the room is another noteworthy feature - the room was cleaned (including renewal of towels) twice a day: during the morning and evening. When we came back at night, the covers were invitingly spread on the bed, and chocolates were put on the side tables (maybe a bit old-fashioned, but how can you beat that?). I should also mention the room had a flat-screen TV, cable, DVD and free of charge fast wireless internet connection. Breakfast hours are until 12:00, which is also a great plus for people like us who consider sleeping in late a crucial part of a vacation, and it is a rich continental breakfast served to the table (not a buffet). Also, shortly after our arrival, cocktails and fresh fruit were delivered to our room, courtesy of the hotel.
However, for us, the most telling experience was the following: on our last day in the hotel we found out that our flight got delayed to a very late hour in the night, and so we asked if we could make a late check out, and of course we were willing to pay the extra charge. The front desk clerks were very obliging - they immediately said the hotel was fully booked, however, they shall try to do whatever they can, and indeed, we eventually got to keep the room until 18:30 that day, with no extra charge!
To resume: we very much enjoyed our stay in the Ochre&Brown, and especially felt that this hotel, which in first glance seems to be all about fashionable design, is really mostly concerned with becoming your "home away from home".

Perfect Place to Stay in Athens

from shahsLA
Although we were only in Athens for one night, we loved the hotel and only wish we could've stayed long. The location is not for the run-of-the-mill tourist, as it is a boutique hotel, with few amentities and not the most convenient location (just off the main road). However, as a young couple that would prefer a hipper venue with more personalized service, Ochre and Brown was perfect. We had the larger room and thought it was qell decorated. We enjoyed the spacious bathroom and rainfall showerhead, especially after a very hot day in roaming around Athens. The location was fine for us, since it was across the street from the station and a block and a half away from the Pssiri area (where the restaurant and bar scene is awesome).

A fantastic find and highly recommend it

from hendmaktari
I found this hotel online, and had read the reviews on here on trip advisor which sealed the deal for me so I have also written my own.
The hotel exceeded my expectations and for me was absoloutely perfect. I'm a very fussy traveller and have high standards on everything! The hotel staff were very efficient all spoke excellent english and had a very nice boutique contemporary feel. As the hotel is very new, this was a real delight for me as I like new furniture and bedding etc! My room had a beautiful view, and good facilities and a great bathroom.
The location was perfect, set back in the old town of athens, within a few minutes walk to the metro station the path to the Acropolis and lovely restaurants and bars.
I would most definately stay at the hotel again and highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good standard boutique hotel in a great quirky location.

Breath of fresh air!

Ochre & Brown is an oasis! I have never been treated so beautifully as I was at this hotel. From the moment my husband and I walked in the front door we felt we were among friends. Everyone was so kind and helpful.
The hotel is beautiful and very stylish. The rain shower, robes and slippers make you feel like you're at your own personal spa and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. While the restaurant may be a little spendy, it is well worth it. The food and coffee are fantastic - best Cafe Freddo we had in Greece! The location is very discreet which is a little challenging for cab drivers but the hotel is wonderful about providing maps and directing you around the area. We give them two thumbs up and HIGHLY recommend them to anyone travelling to Athens for holiday - very hip area, in the middle of great shopping and within walking distance to the Acropolis and Plaka.

Excellent family-type small hotel.

from nomonomo
The sign of the hotel is only on the entrance door, which gives you difficulty to find this hotel at first. But entering through the door the atmosphere encloses you with the feeling of family love. Men and women are very kind and helpful like brothers and sisters. A lady in the restaurant is extraordinarily charming and I felt difficulties to go out cutting the talk with her.

Rooms are rather narrow. No bathtubs, no newspapers, no CNN channel, no internet-connected computers in the rooms. But still I would come here again just so see ladies in the hotel.

Excellent new hotel. It is in one of the more interesting areas of Athens, feeling like a real place rather than a bland, business location.

Breakfast is actually made to order, not a buffet!

Booking terms are a little inflexible in terms of cancellation policy, but apart from that there nothing I would criticise.

5star quality

I found ochre and brown an excellent hotel!the service was excellent, the staff was divine! the place was extremely clean. walking distance to most of downtown athens. good choice to stay away from crowded hotels!

Fantastic Hotel

from Cleo_Eva
Ochre and Brown is a lovely hotel situated in the center of Athens. The location is ideal because it is right next to the underground (metro) station of Monastiraki providing easy access everywhere in downtown Athens. The hotel itself is recently built, quite modern and the service is remarkable!!! The rooms are very comfortable and most tastefully furnished. In short it is the best choice if you wish to book a hotel in Athens! I fully recommend it!!!!

Lovely hotel with five star staff

from jenniferglass
We had two lovely rooms at the hotel in February '07 for three nights. The hotel is lovely. It is a very small hotel (11 rooms) with small but well appointed, immaculate rooms with beautiful marble bathrooms. The shower was outstanding! The staff were five star quality, They made reservations at top restaurants and presented us with an itinerary of our culinary adventures that awaited us, on our arrival. When I requested a facecloth, one of the staff went out and bought some and delivered them to our room. We received complimentary glasses of aperitif to our room each night and the turndown service was exemplary. Breakfast was delicious, especially the orange juice! We received great information about touring Athens and when I expressed an interest in heading to the sea, the manager printed directions for us, directed us to the tram, told us of a lovely town to visit and a nice restaurant to eat at. This is not a hotel with a fitness center, nor does it have a spa. It is located in a very popular, but not upscale, part of town with most everything within walking distance (we walked up to the Acropolis in 10 minutes). It is not well known by taxi drivers, but once we oriented ourselves, we could describe its location easily. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely try others in the Epoque chain of hotels.

Perfect for Business in Athens

from ctmonde
I just wanted a good hotel in Athens centre to be next to the business hot-spots of the city and it turned out to be a perfect choice. I recommend it to anyone who looks for the same thing.
It has really good service and the rooms had almost anything I needed - from satellite TV to free wi-fi internet access.
The fact that it is next to Athens nightlife centre is a "plus".

Top Local Tips for Athens

Acropolis See Acropolis in the afternoon. The light is perfect fro pictures. Hot at that tiime but many less tourists.Get a good map and walk the city around the Acropolis. Dont forget to use and save your Parthenon ticket. It is good for entrance to the lower sites as well.

Avoid July It's super hot - even the yummy, cooling frappe's wont prevent you from running for the shade or back to your hotel esp in the early afternoon.
