Visit "The Poet Sandal Maker" Here's a great place to get handcrafted sandals made to your exact measurements-while you wait! This is the place that Jackie O had her handcrated sandals made for her. John Lennon, too! The original "poet" has retired, but his son has taken over the business. It's a tiny shop on 2, Aghias Theklas Street. It's just down the street from the Parliament. I purchased 2 pairs of sandals and had them made to my exact specifications. Pantelis Melissinos is very charming and enures you do not leave unless your sandals are perfect. The cost, $23.00 euros each!

Be warned about the security probelms in Athens Avoid busy places such as syntagma square, metros, even at Acropolis when it is busy.
