Stayed six nights in the beginning of March 2010 with my family and the hotel turned out to be the perfect choice. A pleasant experience right from the start. Excellent service from check-in to check-out. Quiet rooms with all necessary amenities. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel's at the heart of the city. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We just returned from staying in the Hotel Rio for 5 nights. The Metro was 50 meters away and had lift access to the street which makes it very accessible from anywhere interesting in the city center, the airport and Piraeus. Everywhere is within walking distance. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast in the restaurant was without a doubt the best I've had in any hotel I've stayed in anywhere. The rooms were cleaned daily. Everyone who worked at the hotel spoke English, it made everything easier. I would highly recommend this hotel to explore Athens with your family.

Stayed here in December 2008 with my two friends. Delightful, extremely polite service, well worth the money, convenient shopping area and near metro station.
Location is close to the archaeological sites. A wonderful hotel with great amenities. It was very clean and service was great.
Hotel bar/ restaurant are wonderful. Hotel employers are all very helpful.

Nice 3star hotel in a good location, (city centre, metro station "Metaxourghio"), within walking distance to all local attractions. We had a very good breakfast and our dinner down in the restaurant was great. Me and my family we recommend Hotel Rio Athens to you all.

We stayed at the Rio Athens for 4 nights in late Sept. 2006.
We wanted a small, family-owned hotel, clean, and convenient to historic sites and public transportation. We got exactly what we were looking for and were delighted with the room and service. The neighborhood is downtown and we felt we belonged to a neighborhood by the time we left. We knew our way around the area, had a favorite neighbourhood café, and were comfortable using the inexpensive and conveniently located Metro. The cook at our café looked for us every evening. We quickly learned where to buy bottled water, fresh pastries, and beer. The hotel staff was English speaking, friendly, and helpful with suggestions and directions.
The hotel was exactly as pictured. Our room was on the 3rd floor. It was very adequate and was cleaned thoroughly each day. Rooms in Europe are smaller but we had everything we needed. There was even a small fridge that was so handy to keep drinks cool. The bathroom was small and immaculate. The furniture was basic but certainly adequate for our needs. The ceilings were high and we had lovely shutters on the windows. The air conditioning worked. The breakfast was more than we expected with cold cereals, hard boiled eggs, fruits, meats, and cheeses along with buns, breads, and croissants. We enjoyed taking our breakfast out to the tree lined patio every morning.
We could have booked a familiar, hermetically sealed room that would look exactly like the one in our hometown. We could have chosen to eat exactly the same food as is offered in any North American city. Some people prefer the safety and familiarity of home. We have no quarrel with this preference. It was not what we wanted in Athens.
We feel that we got excellent value for less than $100 a night. The Rio Athens is a charming local hotel in a great city and in a wonderful country.

The rooms were of a very good standard and were great value for money. The restaurant out in yard really is great and we spent the early evening there on both nights were we had delicius Greek dishes.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Rio Hotel Athens and would certainly recommend it to any of our friends planning a trip to Athens. The central location is perfect for any visitor but especially those only staying for a short time with close proximity to the Acropolis area and other sites of Athens.
