Great, Hip Spot in Central Athens

Certainly it is not a 5 star luxury hotel, but for the price I paid, it far exceeded in charm, service, personality, and amenities any other hotels I have stayed at in a similar pricerange. The decor was lovely, the hotel and the rooms very clean, although a bit small. Flatscreen tvs were a nice touch. The rooftop pool was fantastic and the amenities up there very plush as well. The breakfast buffet was one of the best included breakfasts I have had in all of my travels. If you get a good deal pricewise at this hotel... I think I paid 115 Euros a night, then it is most definitely worth it. Plus, its location in central Athens and near the Omonia station is as easy as can be. Only downfall is that the street may not feel like the very safest if you are strolling home alone late at night. Regardless, I would definitely recommend the Fresh Hotel to anyone heading to Athens!!
Interesting hotel; great location

This is a very cool hotel -- love the minimalist decorating. The breakfast was fresh and varied. The location is great -- walking distance from the Acropolis, open market, and Plaka. The bed was hard as a rock!!! The only other problem was that the wake-up call service was not working, and every morning, the staff swore that they called us (or knocked on our door) when they did not! We almost missed an outgoing flight because of this, and when we confronted them, they suggested that maybe we had answered their call and fell back asleep, which was a ridiculous notion. Despite that, the experience was quite good, and the upstairs bar has a beautiful view of the city. The hotel is a bit of an expensive cab ride from the airport (30 euro), so prepare for that.
clean and fresh

This was a great choice. A small hotel not too far from the Plaka and Acropolis. Very basic but with some lovely touches. Inexspensive and everything you want when you're away from home - comfort and cleanliness. The location is great for proximity to attractions but the surrounding streets are a little dirty, but I'm afraid that is Athens. The breakfast room is lovely and has a non smoking section. The buffet breakfast is great too. The roof terrace has a wonderful view of the Acropolis and serves lovely, (if pricey) cocktails and food. The pool is so incredibly small I didn't bother with it - but it looks great. If I was ever to return to Athens I would definately stay here, but I hated this dirty city and everyone was so rude. My advice is go to Athens for the wonderful historic sites and then stay on the Islands instead.
Great spot, funky and very relaxing

We stayed at Fresh in late August 2005 with 4 adults and 4 children raging in age from 4 to 14. We found it to be very freildnly (by Greek standards) and had a very high level of service for the price. Just go for the breakfasts if for nothing else. The Air Lounge is probably the grooviest place in Athens - full of beautiful (gay) people and very relaxing. We met some very interesting people and the staff were quite helpfull. The rooms were small but clean, well designed and equipped and very functional.
Just be aware that Omonia is a bit of a seedy spot and the hotel is next to brothels and porn cinemas, and a bit further down the street is the haunt of large groups of African prostitutes and pimps. If you just hop in a taxi you can be clear of in a minute or two for only a couple of euro. On the other hand, during the day itis an easy walk to Plaka and some great shopping.
While we did not find Fresh child friendly, we did not find it child unfriendly either - but we did stand out a bit in the sea of funky young childless couples and singles, making us a little aware that our screaming kids were probably interupting their tanning time.

Fresh was NOT the right choice for us

After hours on Trip Advisor and the internet we were tossing up between the Hilton and Fresh Hotel. In short, I wish we stayed at the Hilton! We had a fantastic holiday but the 2 days in Athens at Fresh were the most frustrating days of the whole trip.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL IF U HAVE A CAR!!! The day we arrived there was a strike (as there always is in Athens) and they had block off roads to get to the hotel. When we rang, the staff were not helpful at all. Even when the roads were later opened it was a nightmare to get to via congested one way streets. Each time we left or returned to hotel it took at least 30 mins of circling. I have travelled the world and this place was a nightmare to find in a car. It would be easier on foot. The garage was also tight.
When we finally did get there, I was clearly upset and was treated rudely at the counter. We were then given a twin and not a double room. It took a screaming match to get things right. After finally settling in, the hotel itself is very nice. Small rooms, excellent roof top garden, good breakfast.
THE SURROUNDING NEIGHBOURHOOD IS TERRIBLE! One block away is a redlight area and not very desirable people - be careful.
When we went to leave, one item of our lugage was left behind - when we returned to pick it up (another 45 mins to find the hotel again in killer traffic) we were told that the wrong suitcase was put in our car as well. I was extremely upset as we were heading to the airport. This made us late and the thought of having someone else's bag was not only a massive inconvenience but also could have been dangerous. I was then given a parking ticket and insisted that management pay for this. At this stage I was AT MY WITS END!!!!!
Overall, good hotel, terrible location if u have a car. I wish I stayed at the Hilton. I was disappointed with the service and a lack of effort to fix my problems. I am not been fussy - but I don't think the right suitcase is a lot to answer for!
This hotel is ok if u are younger and want to be part of the grungier area of town. I do not recommend it for older people or families and DEFINITELY NOT IF U HAVE A CAR!

In regard to the review that you have written, we feel that there are some things that need to be clarified. The day of your arrival was exactly one day after one of the biggest bank holidays in Greece and the most popular vacation period. Therefore we find it very hard to believe that there was a traffic problem.
Given the fact the hotel is in the heart of Athens there was access to all the sights of the town either by the metro and train or just by walking. There are two different metro lines only 200-300 meters from the hotel. There is even a connection to both the port and the airport. However, had we been informed that you wish to use a car throughout your stay and that you were facing difficulty driving in a foreign town, we would have been more than happy to assist you by arranging for a driver to take you anywhere you pleased. In addition, we could have pointed out in a map the access to the sights of your interest in order to make things clearer for your convenience.
We have to say that this is the first time that we have faced such a complaint from one of our customers and be sure that we are taking it into serious consideration.
Another point that we wish to clarify is about your piece of luggage. I would like to remind you that you were the one who pointed out which suitcase was yours to the bellboy and needed to be placed to your car and it was the reception staff that realized that you had taken a wrong suitcase and informed you as soon as possible. You chose to return to the hotel since you had also forgotten an item of yours in your room. If you had informed us we would have been more than happy to send it to you with a taxi at the point that you were so that you would not have to return or even arrange for a taxi driver to take you to the airport in time.
Last but not least, we would like to clarify things about the parking ticket. Although the hotel has an underground parking area that you could have used, and although that you could have just blocked its entrance for the few minutes you chose to park your car on a pavement exactly on a corner where you were blocking all the traffic. I would like to remind you that we took your parking ticket without discussion and offered to pay for it. It was never actually an issue for you.
To sum up, we would like to note that the Fresh Hotel team is constantly working towards making each customers visit unique. And even if sometimes things go wrong, we assure you that we do our best to help you face any problem that you might have in the best possible way for you. We do hope to see you again in our hotel and we will be at your service at any time.

Pink and Compact

Fresh hotel oozes style. Every inch is a pleasure to look at – pink, white, modern and very compact. Compact could also be construed as small (small room, small pool) but this perfectly fits the hotel style and space is used cleverly (for example, wall mounted flat screen TVs). The hotel also provided everything we needed – dressing gowns, gym, steam room, pool, food, drink, roof-top bar open till 2am. Ok, we didn’t actually use the gym or see anyone using it but it’s good to know it’s there! The service was uneven. On the one hand the cleaners were great (they even tidied up some of my messy clothes and shoes) and breakfast was fun (one staff member in particular was really friendly, helpful and entertaining) and on the other, the roof-top bar staff overseen by a tense looking chain smoking manager were often sniffy, slow and utterly unresponsive. The views were mainly grim but fortunately the mobile phone antenna blocking the view of the Acropolis displayed colourful lights at night. Small things – the lift had a sick-making swoop, the breakfast room had horribly squeaky chairs/floors, a squawking caged parrot lived on the roof, the adjacent pet shop had a cockerel that crowed eerily all day long and some of the tolerated clientele were rich, arrogant and pretentious. Still, we will definitely go back and this hotel definitely tops the others we have stayed in Athens – Omonia Grand, St. George Lycabbetus and Divani Caravel.
Great place for central Athens

I spent three nights at the Fresh Hotel in August 2005, prior to flying out to Santorini.
First things first: don't pay more than 25 euros from the airport to the hotel in your taxi! Great first impressions, the hotel is in a very central location near all the main attractions (the Acropolis is about a 20 minute walk or a 2-stop tube ride away). The lobby is very cool - bright pink, big chandelier, really friendly staff. The elevators are cool too.
Rooms: well, the standard ones are pretty ordinary. They are very small, but very well designed so as to maximise space. They have very standard design features but are cool, clean and relaxing. If you are going to be spending much time in your room then I would probably pay for a larger room. We had a tiny balcony but no furniture on it, which kind of defeats the purpose.
Breakfast: fantastic choices, great breakfasts indeed, yum. Loads of variety and choice.
Best feature: rooftop lounge/bar area. This has a fantastic view of Athens, including a great view of the Acropolis. It is a great place for lounging, with squishy sofas and a small but well-needed pool in the heat of the summer!
All in all, this hotel is great value for money and the rooftop lounge area is fantastic. But if you come here looking for a top design experience, this isn't your thing, and it is not five star luxury either. But to be honest you won't find a top design experience in central Athens. The only other option is the Semiramis, which we stayed in on the way back, which is a much cooler hotel all round, fab pool, great bedrooms (free Havaianas flip flops!), amazing restaurant decor but only disadvantage is that is in the suburbs of Athens and a 20 minute tube ride in. I prefer the Semiramis by miles but if you want to be in central Athens and have a design experience, this is far from a bad choice!

Great choice

My boyfriend and I stayed here before heading to Mykonos for a wedding. The hotel is well located for sightseeing (within walking distance of Forum, Acropolis, Plaka etc) and eating out. It is a very modern design with fantasitc communal areas like the rooftop bar and pool area. The staff were excellent and very patient with our requests to see about 4 rooms before finally settling on one. Breakfast was great with a huge amount of choice in a lovely bright room (don't have a hangover!) and the food we sampled in the rooftop bar was delicious and reasonably priced. In fact all the services were very reasonable for the calibre of the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends
A superb contemporary hotel with great service

I totally agree with all the really positive reviews of the hotel. We stayed at the Fresh hotel for our last two nights in Greece. The Fresh Hotel is a bright, modern hotel with extremely helpful, efficient and professional service and represents excellent value for money. (Room rates, dinner, wine and other drinks were all resonably priced which is usually not the case in other similar boutique hotels). We were continually impressed and suprised by the staff who would go the extra mile for us without being asked. The rooms were clean, modern, well designed and finished to a good standard. We ate in the hotel resturant one evening and the food was excellent, with the freshest (no pun intended!) of ingredients, whilst the service was the most attentive we experienced in our week long stay in Greece. Breakfast was also a pleasant surprise, with a vast array of choice, and far from the bog standard continental breakfast fare of other Eurpoean hotels. The roof top air lounge and pool were fabulous and beautifully designed and a great place to relax in the soaring summer temperatures. (There is also a great view of the Acropolis from there, especially at night). The only drawback is the location of the hotel which, although very central and great for getting to places easily, is a bit run-down and not very aesthetically pleasing but this really wasn't a problem given the other overwhelming plus points this hotel offers. In addition, we felt very safe walking around this area (and in Athens in general). All in all, a fabulous, unpretentious, contemporary and trendy hotel offering great service and value. We would most definitely stay there again.

I went to visit some friends in Athens and I stayed a week at the Fresh Hotel. First, I must say, what a wonderful design!. This boutique hotel is all about design. The hotel offers probably the best designed rooms in the whole city. The room where I stayed had a distinctive simple design. Another point in favor of the hotel was its great location. In downtown Athens, the hotel is close to almost every attraction, just some blocks away from Omonia Square, and you will find nice restaurants and bars. If you visit Athens, this is the place to be.
Top Local Tips for Athens
Watch you change! The only slight downer of our break in Athens was the rather basic con the taxi driver attempted once we had arrived at the hotel. The fare was 38 Euros, so I handed over 2 x 20 Euro notes. The driver then quickly switched one of the 20’s for a 5 Euro (they are both blue) and faked confusion. Luckily I’d got the my money from a cash machine at the airports and its was only in 20’s and 50’s so I know I could not have accidentally handed a 5 in place of a 20. I suggested I get the hotel manager and he soon drove off. Be warned!!
out and about,sights use athens sight seeing bus (yellow sun sign on side)to get to sight only cost 5 euros and really easy to hop on and off . Do sights on sunday as there all free on this day Taxis are cheap but be clear and confident when talkin to drivers as most are friendly but some will blow you off if they cant be bothered
Acropolis Walk along the recently built Dionysios Areopagitus pedestrian walkway at night to get the best views of the Parthenon from below. There are also some amazing outdoor cafes, bars and restaurants along this walkway (with Acropolis views) free of the hustle and bustle of noisy vehicle traffic
