Spectacular Acropolis View

We spent 4 nights at this centrally located hotel. We opted for a suite with airport pickup which was really nice to be greeted by name after baggage retrival. The suite was more than we expected, great views, plenty of room, large bathroom, the shower even had a view of the acropolis!!. The breakfast was very good, that greek yogurt is the best!! We were able to walk or subway to all attractions. Staff was most accomidating with all requests.

Nice clean hotel

It is conveniently located steps away from the Sytagma Sq. Easy walk to all the main sites and shops. Plenty of restaurants nearby. The room is small but it is very clean. Staff is friendly and helpful.

What an excellent selection in Athens!

after reading much about a well located hotel next to plaka and metro / bus station, and with a good price, we finally stayed at the amazon hotel and it was an excellent selection! thanks to all that helped us choosing it with your comments. the room was very clean, the staff at reception very kind and the location of the hotel was excellent, we got a room with views to acropolis, which is at a walking distance 15 min. aprox. from the hotel. you can reach the hotel with a 5 min. walk from sintagma square. but it is true that the elevator is very small (for 2 people) and toilet is also very small but new and clean. 110 eur/day.

hotel "amazon" made our stay a success, as it is close to sintagma square and the metro and bus stations are only a few minutes walking, which gave us the possibility of reaching the most interesting places, even the port of piraeus.
the day & night receptionists were very friendly, and they prepared us a breakfast bag in the morning, as we had to leave the hotel at 5.am, and breakfast started at 7.

area is safe, as you find many policemen around, even at night!

for those of you who look for a well located clean and small hotel.

Great Hotel, Location and Staff

I stayed at the Amazon Hotel last week. I enjoyed my stay very much. The hotel is located about a 3-5 minute walk from Syntagma Square and a 15 minute walk from the Acropolis. The hotel was very well located, staff were exceptional, the rooms very clean, and the air conditioning in the rooms worked very well. Everything about this hotel and staff were positive. I would especially like to mention one hotel staff member. Her name is Maria Eginitou. Every day she would greet me with a smile and ask how my stay was and if she could be of any assistance. The hotel staff was always eager to provide dining recommendations, directions, or whatever I asked. I will definitely return to Athens and to the Amazon Hotel. Great experience. Enjoy.

Great situation for friendly hotel

My daughter and I stayed in this centrally located hotel for 2 nights on our way through Athens. The position of this hotel is ideal for anyone who wants to be within 5 minutes walking distance of Syntagma, Plaka, Omonia and Monistiraki and the Flea Market. For people travelling with children, as I was, this hotel is in a situation which is central and safe for walking around even after dark. The room was clean and modern and a good size and had a great view of the Acropolis from the (rather small) verandah. We could find no faults with this hotel and recommend it highly to anyone, especially those who may be travelling with children.

a good simple hotel

This hotel is located near Syntagma square and the main shopping street (shoe heaven if you like buying shoes!) and is an easy walk to the plaka area and the various sights of ancient Athens. It's easy to get to from the airport - you just hop on the train and get off at Syntagma, then it's about a 500 metre walk.

The hotel itself is clean and rooms appeared to be freshly refurbished. The room and the lift were extremely compact. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very average. I booked directly on the hotel's website and all went smoothly. I'd happily stay there again - it's a good, simple hotel and I like the location.

Great hotel, great location

Small rooms (to American standards) but clean, newly decorated, neat, quiet location, FIRM beds, safe, refrigerator, cutest shower;

Excellent location (3 blocks from Syntagma Square, metro station for 2 lines; 15-20 min walk to Acropolis/ Agora; 2 laundromats on same block (both closed on Sat/ Sun though); 15-20 tavernas within 3-4 blocks;

Good breakfast (eggs, variety of breads, cereals, Greek yogurt with fruit and honey for on top);

Desk staff very helpful, even making a few telephone calls for us, because we were concerned that person on the other end might only speak Greek; 135 euros for a triple per night.

Convenient location to the Plaka disctrict and Constitution SQ / Syntagma

Perfect location and extremely convenient to the X95 express bus to Athens Int'l Airport (45+ min depending on traffic) and Constitution SQ / Syntagma Metro station and 10min walk to the Acropolis. We stayed on two separate occasions, two nights before the flight to Santorini and 1 night after. We found the staff extremely helpful. We were able to check in at 8:30am when returning from Santorini before the flight back to the US. As the previous reviews state, the rooms are on the small side. After searching endlessly for a reasonable hotel in the Plaka district withouth having to stay in a hostel you cannot beat the price and the location.

Walk and Learn Athens Walking Tours start everyday from Syntagma Square. Book a day in advance. Contact Despina Savvidou [info@athenswalkingtours.gr]. You will have a great morning and learn a lot more than you would from a guide book.

getting to the hotel when u to the airport u need to take the x95 to Syntagma square, you have to buy your ticket before you get on the bus, once you have ur ticket there is a machine on the bus where you have to validate you ticket. The ticket cost €3.20 and Syntagma square is the last stop on the bus the journey takes about 45mins depending on what time of day you are travelling. When you get off the bus walk down the hill to the right cross the road (be careful of crossing the roads although the green man comes up the taxis do not always stop!!) stay on the left hand side of mitropoleos street the hotel is down the road on the left on the corner of pentelis/mitropoleos you cant miss it...

Historical Sites Free on Monday The Acropolis and several of the nearby attractions have free admission on Mondays. We did a lot of research on site seeing in Athens before going but somehow missed that fact. We arrived on Sunday evening and bought our full priced tickets only to find out the next day that admission was free on Monday. Guides at the attraction are not forthcoming with this information. I am not complaining as the price was well worth the experience but if your schedule will accommodate you doing your visitations on Monday, you can save a few euro's for the great food. Also, the ticket offices are suppose to have a guide to the sites in english. However, they were nowhere to be found. Make sure you have a good guide book with you as the signage leaves a little to be desired.
