Top Local Tips for Athens

Changing of the Guard Every Sunday at around 11am the guards outside Parliament change with a massive parade and band music. Stake your spot ealry as the crowds get crazy but it is worth the struggle.

Taxis are a rip off Taxi drivers do not discount the fare for multiple parties in the cab. We shared a taxi from the airport and both couples were charged 35 Euros.

Check for free days at museums/archaeological sites. We were admitted to many of the sites in Athens and in other parts of Greece free due to it being a "Tourists Day". I had read that certain days were free but we only paid to enter 1 or 2 sites our entire 2 week trip. Make sure you check before buying a multi-site pass in particular.
