Don't believe any of the bad reviews for the Hotel Stamos. We stayed the first 2 weeks in August and found the staff extremely friendly and the rooms cleaned to a standard that we've never received before in any greek resort. I would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone wanting a friendly and relaxing holiday.
Fantastic staff and great owners

If you read anything positive about Stamos Hotel. Don't believe a word of it. My wife and I paid nearly £1300-00 for a 14 night stay on a b/b basis. Firstly the room that they gave us well below the quality that we expected, so after creating a fuss they moved us to a room on an upper floor. This room was no better, but unfortunately there wasn't another hotel available. The new room had dried blood on the shower curtain, and the decor was so dark that you need to have a light on even in daytime. The bathroom / toilet, which was adjacent to the kitchen had no extractor fan or window, and the shower drain was literally just a hole in the floor, about four inch in diameter The only power socket was dropping off the wall, so it was dangerous even when not in use. When in Greece we obviously expect insect bites. But we have never experienced anything like these. Every morning we were covered in lumps and bites
Even with the aircon on and the door kept firmly shut. They became so serious that we were convinced eventually, that they must have been some sort of bedbugs because of the severity of them. Next comes the breakfast which at best could only be described as Dickensian, but without the gruel. Unless you include what was laughingly called fruit juice which in reality was only coloured water. We only had breakfast once, for two reasons. The first is what I have just explained, and the second reason is "wait for it" the presence a very large rat which we discovered. On our return from a night out, sat on a dining table in the breakfast room. When we confronted the creature it didn't appear to be startled, and just sat there. Which suggests that it was used to being round people. Indeed the hotel proprietor didn't seem too surprised when he was told about it the same night. The creature only moved when I threw my water bottle at it. But next morning the same table linen was still on the table. Oh nearly forgot to mention. If you have mobility problems the two flights of steps into the hotel may cause a problem, but the brochures make no mention of this, nor do they mention the 100 yards walk from the coach to the hotel, because this is the closest that coaches can get to this hotel. If, after reading this review. You think that I am a bitter, and ignorant of Greek accommodation individual. Then you couldn't be more wrong. During the last five years me and my wife have traveled extensively round the Greek Islands, but nothing compares to this hotel. Finally beware of the day receptionist she is a very sneaky and untruthful individual

Great place to be based to see the peninsular, Staff are very friendly - only small so not too busy, quiet and relaxing both daytime and eveing but short walk to beautiful village of afitos. Hired a car and visited lots of resorts on both peninsulars - Afitos is the best!
Warm & welcoming

We stayed at the Hotel Stamos in August and found the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and well maintained. The hotel was exceptionally clean (the maid service could not be faulted). A fairly basic breakfast but enough for what you need. Well stocked bar and easily accessable to the town. Unfortunatly we picked the only 2 weeks where a lot of children were staying, making it feel cramped at times. This resort is definatly suited to couples rather than families. Local beach very clean with excellent snorkling! Can't recommend it enough! If you like small quaint towns or villages then Afytos is for you - Do NOT go to Kalithea (Overly tourist with neon lights and 'tacky' shops as far as the eye can see)if you want a quiet day out! Overall, very peaceful and relaxing.

Can't understand the last review. I loved this place, pool was lovely, family run apartments, exceptionally clean, helpful staff and perfect for a getaway holiday.

Their own website makes it look good and the tour operators sell it as "excellent service with many repeat visitors". I found it very cramped, basic and very poor value for money. I moved out and for an extra 10 per night stayed in comparative luxury at Hotel Achtis.

Top Local Tips for Afitos
Bar just up from main square There is an excellent cocktail bar just up from the main square that sells the best alcoholic and non-alcoholic for 3-4 Euros during happy hours 4 - 11 pm. Well worth a visit.
Mosquitos Plenty of strong mosquito repellent needs to be bought before arriving, then you'll be fine.
Cocktails For cheap cocktails find the bar with a tree for a roof with giant sparkler filled cocktails. Happy hour all evening!
