Top Local Tips for Munich

Don't expect to shop or see all open on Sundays! We went to the Marienplatz to go the the Hofbrauhaus (great experience...reminded me of my father in law's descriptions of beer hauses.) But the area was dead other than restaurants and some sites....We did get ther at just around 4:30...and most places close by 5 anyway...but we were told that most stores etc do not open on Sundays, and the tourist sites close early. So we missed out on a lot of what we would have liked to experience...was semi abandoned by 8 (this was in late May tho)...was still beautiful, we just did not get to see inside some places we would have liked, and there were some shops I would have loved to SEE....I did not have $$ to shop there...the US dollar is something I only bought special things with to justify the exchange rate. The Hofbrauhaus is somewhat touristy...but lots of Germans were there having a great time and the oompa band and food were very authentic (my husbands father was a chef from the area)

Public transport in Munich is second to none..It is GOOD Walk, take the U barn or train,but whatever you do get out and see Munich, it has got something for everyone.

do not take the taxi from the airport If you are going from the airport downtown, do not take the taxi. It is 60 euros. Ouch...
