Excelsior Twice
Exiting the hauptbahnhoff or the U-bahn, once is inclined to question their decision to stay at the Excelsior. Though the fire of the financial district has slowly crept toward the bahnhof, gradually burning away more and more of the unsavory elements traditionally associated with the area, like good weeds, many of those elements still sprout. After a night or two in the hotel, however, one feels quite wise for having chosen a hotel of such quite luxury, but a stroll from the bahnhof in one direction, the heart of the city in the other, not to forget the delightful bistro attached to the hotel. The best recommendation one can offer for a hotel, is that they stayed there twice. And twice we did, '02 and '04. And we will when we next return to Munich.
